I squatted 150lbs this morning 3 times! That’s a hell of a 3 rep max for me. It was hard but my legs are so powerful! Glad I bought them bigger jeans though because I am already getting sore.
On another note: one of my projects might not survive flooding @shorterstrides-fasterpace

NSV!!!
This is 145 for 3! And after this set I did 150 for 2! Ahhh! My last PR was 145 for 1. I’m stoaked!
Keep pushing! Never give up. Remember you are awesome and can achieve anything you want too!

This is not just a strength workout but it is also a strong coordination development one.
When I go for a run, I make two running rounds with upbeat music, to feel the rush and adrenaline and then a third walking round listening to chill songs such as “clean” and thinking and enjoying nature. The first two are for the body and the last one is for the soul. Does anyone else do that?
I’m not embarrassed to say I came out of that workout, got in my car and had a cry. Physically I was there for that workout but mentally I wasn’t. My mind was elsewhere and without that, well the workout was a struggle.
Still I’m going to highlight the positives to counteract the negatives:
I got in the gym when that voice in my head was telling me to stay laying on my bed.
That’s 4 days in a row I’ve worked out. Doesn’t matter how long or intense they were, I’ve got a streak!
I hit all my goals on my Apple Watch
I’m sitting here not upset with myself but upset with my mental health and that’s the difference! My mental health is part of what’s up with me, it isn’t all of me.
I’ve drank over 2lt of water today!
So yeah, here I sit with tears in my eyes but this isn’t a defeat, it’s a moment of reflection and understanding. It shows not every workout will be or has to be perfect, what counts is I got up, got on my gear and worked out for 35 mins!

Update. 2012 vs 2018
Fun fact I’ve learned from this podcast
Women do not respond to low load (ie high reps, low weights) as well as men do. They respond better, in terms of both hypertrophic gains AND strength gains, to to high load (lower rep schemes, higher weights).
Which is generally EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE of “toning” programs marketed towards women.
Also lots of fun info about recovery, relative va absolute strength gains, and menstrual cycle effects on resistance training
