I came across a very interesting item in a thrift store: a badge of Lotta Svärd, The Finnish Voluntary Auxiliary Paramilitary Organization for Women. It was established in 1918 but became most well-known during WW2. This is most definitely from WW2.

Notice the Finnish swastika, hakaristi, on it. Hakaristi is similar to Japanese manji, standing straight up, and it has the same positive meaning. Hakaristi has been used in Finnic-Ugric tribes for a small eternity as a symbol of good luck and as a decoration. Many military related instances still have hakaristi incorporated in their design and work, like the Karjalan Lennosto Air Force flag's insignia;

Finnish hakaristi, like Japanese manji, has nothing to do with the Nazi swastika. Hakaristi and manji have both existed thousands of years before the Nazi regime.

BUT since Nazis completely ruined this symbol, even Finns had to let go of their ancient traditions of using hakaristi :')))) Japan has been marking their temples on maps with a different sign than manji for the Western tourists' sake, which is also a loss of a culture of its own.
