i'm digging into this because a bitch gotta know and it looks as though my entire remote scottish region, population 40, is banned from editing wikipedia. this is due to "disruptive editing." i presume that when we moved here the admin gods thought our new connection was an attempt at ban evasion and brought down the hammer mercilessly.

one of my neighbours appears to be in the ban logs arguing his innocence passionately and frequently. i am considering buying one of those baseball caps that says "WIKIPEDIA EDITOR" on it and wearing it on my walks around the local area both as an ironic statement and to potentially flush out drama. perhaps i did ask after all.

I think one of the most damaging ideologies towards children is the conviction that having children isn’t a calling but a moral obligation.

Not to be a crazy radical or anything, but children deserve to be deeply wanted by their parents.

He has given gifts to the other inmates for Christmas using the donations people sent his commissary account.

He appears to have attempted to communicate through flashing his cell lights to show his supporters outside that he could hear them cheering for him (this exact light flashing is what inmates at the previous prison did to communicate to the news that they were in support of Luigi, so he may have learned it from them and taken this form of light communication with him to MDC.)

It is rumored he is paying for the other inmates' healthcare using donations to his commissary account.

Inmates who shared time with him at the Penn prison say he 'gave them a voice' when they 'had never had one before' (in reference to the collective shouting 'Free Luigi' the inmates did.

He is writing back to supporters and is alleged to have informed one supporter that he is warm, taken care of, and will be okay. He does not want people to stay up at night worrying about him.

1000% this, people need to stop calling their impulses and random thoughts "intrusive thoughts", they have no fucking clue how debilitating it is to have ocd

fyi to clarify, you can have intrusive thoughts (about anything) without having ocd. the difference is that in ocd the intrusive thoughts are the themes that drive obsessive-compulsive behavior loops.

so while someone without ocd will have a passing intrusive thought like "what if i killed this person right now?" and usually move on, with ocd this becomes a recurring theme in the person's thoughts and fuels a compulsive need to try to avoid this in any possible way.

so for example, someone with pocd might think "what if i'm secretly a pedophile?" and their response to that will be "i have to avoid children, i cannot be within 5 feet of children, i need to double check my memories to make sure nothing i did was inappropriate, i should ask someone if something i did was weird just to be sure" etc

and the stereotypical "clean" depiction you see of ocd is typically the compulsive part of an obsessive-compulsive behavior loop! so "i have to clean everything... or i'll get sick and die." or anything really, ocd can focus on any kind of fear

but not everyone with ocd will have cleaning compulsions because it may not fit with their obsessions

It depends on how long "the apocalypse" has been going on. There are plenty of people who get pregnant before a genocide/invasion/war starts and are pregnant while the war is going on. Happened during the Holocaust, the invasion of Ukraine, and Israel's attack on the Palestinians and countless other situations before and after and in between.

If there's a genocide going on the parent may not want an abortion for obvious reasons.

Psychologically the idea of bringing a child into the world can represent a future that does not have the apocalyptic horrors in it. If the apocalypse does not seem like it will last that long, it may be a reasonable assumption that the child will not be in danger.

People desire comfort and closeness during times of horror. Sex fulfills that need for a lot of people.

Lack of condoms and birth control. Hell there are women in the United States of America right fucking now who are scrambling to get their birth control sorted in case the Republicans ban it.

If people refused to have children every time something horrific happened we wouldn't be here.
