As you step into Caligula's Coffee House that afternoon, there is a single thought on your mind — where exactly did all this pink fabric even come from?
It is impressive, truly. The cushions, the tablecloths, the hanging decorations are all rosier than an urchin's cheeks following a rooftop race. Lord Emerson himself rushes to greet you at the door, pink cape billowing behind him as he walks.
"Ah, you made it! Good, good. You'll see there are plenty of seats available; take whichever, you'll spend the rest of the afternoon switching around anyway. Mind the garlands connecting the tables — they help our Rattus Faber and scaled friends navigate the space better. There's refreshments too, of course, just talk to- oh, I don't know. Anyone who looks like a waiter. That wouldn't be me, would it now, darling? Lovely. Oh, more guests! Please, if you'll excuse me, my dear..."

Happy Feast of the Exceptional Rose, everyone! And to those who signed up, welcome to Lord Emerson's Lonely Hearts Club. By the end of today, you will have received the name and contact information of your first roleplaying partner. For the next ten days, you will have the opportunity to chat about your characters, establish what brought them to the event and hopefully send each other a couple in-game letters, too!
Here are some things to keep in mind.
You will be paired up with 3 different partners for each character you signed up with: one announced today, one on February 10th and one on February 20th. The event will officially end on March 1st.
Other than these announcement dates, there are no strict deadlines for roleplaying. Everyone is encouraged to follow along at their own pace.
The official tag of the event is #lelhc! I will be checking it regularly and reblogging any quotes, writing snippets and art pieces posted in there. In conversation, I will simply be referring to the event as Lonelyhearts.
And how lonely those hearts are! This is your reminder that despite the "speed dating" nature of the setting, this event is open to all types of characters, many of whom do not seek a romantic connection at all. Always make sure to check in with your RP partner about what kind of stories they are interested in telling together.
Hopefully it will not come to this, but for any interpersonal conflicts, I encourage players to discuss the matter between themselves first. If it cannot be resolved and you feel deeply uncomfortable with your current RP partner, you can turn to me and we will sort something out together!
Lastly, please remember to respect the dress code. For any innocent fools who forgot to incorporate the colour pink into their wardrobe, I will be distributing rosy boutonnières and corsages at the entrance. Thank you, darlings.
