new fun or horrible thoughts (depending on your stance on blood play) regarding Hiram's sexy time, prompted by firmament's option to hook up with a red aligned guy, and the general descriptions of red aligned people:
do Not fuck him in front of a mirror if you want your sexy time to be blood free.
do Not press too much into his skin around his chest/torso/arms if you want your sexy time to be poison free.
consider getting a huge mirror if you'd like your experience to be nice and bloody. the gloves are off during sex, just remember about the skin thing.
disregard this advice if you're into blood AND poison, just be aware that the blood will end up literally everywhere after a while. it also drips from the mirror frame.
disregard all this advice for a bit and then move away from the mirror if you want your sexy time to be just a little bloody. the gloves can stay on.
consider moving your sexy time to parabola if you're into all of that but want to avoid the bloody mess entirely. The gloves are off and there's no annoying dripping mirror effect. The flower gore is still posonous tho 🫡
Hey folks just popping on here with Cal's permisison - unfortunately seems to be a potential case of serotonin syndrome here. Cal's being taken to the hospital, and i will update as need be once I know anything further here o7
They're still at the hospital currently, but they are situated and being treated so it's looking better! Was confirmed to be mild serotonin syndrome, thankfully it was caught early.
I need to talk about canon Atlas living until the modern day. 3 of their partners are stupid rich so they could theoretically get their hands on some Hesperidean Cider and return to the Surface at some point.
In 2026 they’d be an incredibly crotchety old-but-not person. Just imagine this guy struggling at a self-checkout wearing a suit from the 1930s and quietly ranting about how things were “back in their day”. They join a book club that reads period pieces and wistfully talk about life before telephones were widespread. They scoff at any way to play music that isn’t a record player. They hate TVs. They don’t look a day over 35.
Marigold has a ton of fics, and the order isn't always obvious, so I've compiled a little guide for your reading pleasure ^^
This guide is in in-story chonological order, not by when I published them! So, if you're looking to learn more about Mari, consider this the Official Reading Order!!!
A warning though- Mari's name is basically its own trigger warning at this point, so always heed the tags on these fics!!!
Blood Into Roses, Roses into Honey - Dybbuk - I can't seperate these two, as they hop between eachother in the timeline. The first half of Blood into Roses takes place first, then Dybbuk happens, then the second half of Blood Into Roses.
I recommend reading Blood into Roses, Marigold's debut fic, first! This one details how Marigold came to the Shutter Palace's Cage Gardens, and implies why they're so devoted to the Captivating Princess. This was written before I knew anything about them really, and was back when they were intended to be a one off character for a single fic :')
Dybbuk fills in the missing chunk in the time gap of Blood into Roses. This fic is written after two years of my 'one-off oc' being stuck in my head and growing legs. (And a face... and a name... and a backstory... and a whole fucking character arc.) This fic focuses on Devorah, the person Marigold used to be, with a Jewish (and Neathy!) twist! It talks about Devorah's murder, but also gives a lot of backstory lore on Marigold, and answers the question of why they were at that protest in the first place. Devorah's narration is more trustworthy than than Marigold's by far, but they still don't tell the full truth.
And look!!!! I barely even kill any servants in it!!!!
Appearances, or The Body Keeps the Score - Now finished!!! This gives an earlier view of Marigold and the Princess, when they were already hers, but not quite adjusted yet. Their fear is more palpable in this fic, despite their devotion. They also still fear that the Princess will abandon them, which is not as present in later fics.
Escape The Palace - Marigold, for once, is not the main star of this fic! This was their second fic, so, when i was still in denial about keeping them lmao! But they're still instrumental to this fic, and you get some interesting insight into how they view their memories in relation to the Princess!!! You can also see their extreme loyalty in this. This is also when I began my servant murdering spree. The Princess just tears through em like tissue paper!
Prized Bloom - This one could be swapped with the next fic, but I've placed here for better context. Here we see that even though the Princess favors Marigold about everyone else, it doesn't mean that they're exempt from their own unique tortures.
A Flowering Blight - This takes place a while after Jamie has entered the picture, right around the tipping point of when Marigold's hatred and obsession has turned to something previously only felt for the Princess, which is reflected in their delirium and sickness.
A Token - Written right before the Captivating Princess kidnaps Jamie. Marigold's world has now shifted away from the Princess as much, and revolves much more around Jamie. Marigold's attachment issues are very present in this fic, with them acquiring something to remember Jamie by.
How Does Your Garden Grow? - By my friend @thedeafprophet, who is also the owner of Jamie! This takes after Jamie has been kidnapped and after he fled the Palace! This one is written from the ppoint of view of Prophet's OC Josie, and tells the story of how Marigold flees the Gardens. Or rather, how they're pulled out! Currently unfinished, but with plenty to read so far, this is the latest piece in Marigold's timeline, and is a very pivotal time as well!
