so hey there ! I’m Lakin/Lake, prns they/them :] ! I’m nonbinary, aroace, and queer

1 forplay by saint motel (2009!) (one of the albums of all time, and tbh all of their applicable albums could fit here but i have a soft spot for forplay)

2 cutiemarks (and the things that bind us) by vylet pony (2021!) (the entire album is so good ... everyone loves antonymph and im no exception but ouuw its so good)

3 burn pygmalion!!! a better guide to romance by the scary jokes (2019!) (i like this album a lot . a lot of things to rotate in it . also the album name itself kind of inspired my name . reminded me of that guy . now im pygmalion so im being burned i fear .owchie!)

4 happy heartcore by spott (2021!) (i love furry musicians .. this ones very good, highly recommend it for folks who like more energetic music)

5 lemon demon. which one? great fucking question i cant decide. maybe view monster! maybe spirit phone ! perhaps nature tapes? who knows. one of them.

in no particular order.. 1."Widow [OBLIVION Pt.1]" by Crywolf I don't listen to the album all the way through very often, but almost every single one of my favs from Crywolf are on here, and I love listening to them in order. The transition tracks are so good...

2."A Gift To Us All" by Cacola It's good... it's really really good.... I used to have the whole album featured on my website, and I'd loop it while working on said website. If they ever sell vinyls I would love to buy one.

3."Pix & Bit" by Patricia Taxxon At least one Patricia album had to be on here. Cilantro loops in my head every day. There's tiny snippets of the Techdog albums that'll live in my head forever. With My Tail to the World makes me wanna do flips all over the place. YAY YAY FURRY MUSIC YAY

4."View-Monster" and "Dinosaurchestra" by Lemon Demon Couldn't choose just one sorry. Lemon Demon moment

the temptation to just put every Fleet Foxes album was great….but alas I will settle for one

1. Helplessness Blues by Fleet Foxes (2011)

possibly my favorite album from my favorite band of all time. almost every track has deep personal meaning to me and I’m highly considering having the album artwork and lyrics from the title track on my college grad cap

2. Hozier by Hozier (2014)

couldn’t not include an album by my beloved birthday twin <33 holy shit this album is so peak it never ceases to amaze me that this was his debut album. 5 star no skip album imo

3. Dear Wormwood by The Oh Hellos (2015)

suchhhhh an incredible album musically and thematically, with a vivid storyline to boot. Soldier, Poet, King was my gateway into The Oh Hellos and indie folk in general, but the rest of the album has also caused it to become one of my top favorites

4. I And Love And You by The Avett Brothers (2009)

partially a nostalgia pick given that The Avett Brothers are my parents’ favorite band and I grew up listening to a lot of their stuff, including some of my to-date favorites by them. BUT I also credit this album and my parents very heavily with shaping my music taste and I am very fond of it

5. Coyote Stories by The Crane Wives (2015)

another case of several songs being my introduction to a band (The Moon Will Sing + Never Love an Anchor) but then falling in love with the rest of the album. such a beautiful album with so many songs that make me emotional

I’ve seen a lot of people saying that Sherlock not telling James about the key was him shutting James out because he’s mad/doesn't trust him anymore. However, I did not read it that way at all. I read it as an offer. James has just thanked Sherlock for saving him from a life of boredom. I think Sherlock hopes that if he can keep James entertained, he can keep him from going down the wrong path. He teases the key to entice James’ curiosity and ambition in another direction. He doesn't elaborate because he wants James to choose to follow him for the key instead of pursue the formula. He wants to see James put in the effort rather than just give it to him.

birds. I’m always birding idc if I’m on the clock or in my backyard or in the car. most recent lifers were a bobolink and a hooded warbler 🙏

Currently working on

remote work for the lab I work in at school, mostly data archival (yay!!) from old research projects

for my current job/internship, lesson planning for upcoming weeks of nature camp! next theme is nature art which I’m soooo excited for we’re doing ALL the nature crafts

I’ve also been keeping a field journal for this summer :-) working outside means I see tons of cool stuff every day and illustrating and writing about them feels like a way to connect with the world and its life

AND my second playthrough of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. I’m abt 2/3 through that. I missed the game a lot and have enjoyed creating a new oc and reliving the game (especially now that I actually know what I’m doing LMAO)

Favorite flower

I love foxglove!! even though it’s not native to the US (it is NOT considered invasive in my region), I have a grove of it in the woods behind my house and it’s the most magical thing ever. they get SO TALL and they’re so beautiful <33 the folklore surrounding them is also so fun. the fact that they’re so deadly while looking so whimsical is wild to me
