How do you find all your posts to draw characters in??? I draw your mer people all the time and it's SO HARD to find mermaid-specific poses :(

Have you just like figured out well how to translate human poses to merpeople or what?

Basically I just draw them as humans first then try to match the proportions.

It’s not a perfect method, sometime I have to resize stuff depending on the pose but it’s a good starting point. (Might be different depending on your art style.)

Hi Miss Wendy. Hope you are doing all right. I don't know if you have answered this before but, what would you say is the thesis of Castle Swimmer? And how different is that thesis from the one you will do with the bird boys?

I don’t know if there is a ‘thesis’ per say but in terms of general themes, in Castle Swimmer I wanted to explore the concept of expectations and the responsibility of those expectations placed on characters who are incapable of meeting them.

And it’s ultimately an allegory for being Queer when you’re expected to live as a straight person.

With my next comic bird boys, I’m not sure how the themes will develop as I start creating it but at the moment the main theme is about finding worth and value in the broken. The characters are living in a destroyed world and many of them are traumatized and incapable of self improvement or bettering themselves, however they still deserve to live and have value as they are now. (Also it’s a poly romance so there’s a lot of romantic themes too lol)

At the official Tales event “Tales of Festival” held the other day, I was able to see Sorey and Mikleo again for the first time in a long while. I never imagined that something so miraculous would happen in 2026. I’m truly delighted and so happy—I still can’t believe it.

I absolutely love seeing Sorey and Mikleo living a laid-back, peaceful life. But lately, I feel like my drawings of them always end up looking the same.It made me lose confidence, so I haven't been able to draw them for a while.

Even so, Sorey and Mikleo are such special characters to me that I could say they’re my absolute favorites in my entire life. I’m truly grateful to the entire production team who brought them to life.

Maybe it's just me, but there's something about posting a fic online where my brain bluescreens. I question my knowledge of the English language. Did I use that word right? And it's not, like, the $5 vocabulary words. I know I used phrenospasm right. I'm not questioning laccolith, canthal, pasquinade, or transom. It's like. "Oh fuck oh fuck. DID I USE THE WORD 'DISCUSSION' RIGHT!?!?!?" and I'm nervously racing off to dictionaries, thesauruses, and resources that show the word in context to prove I'm using the word in appropriate context. I am a native English speaker. I am an idiot. Why the fuck am I having an identity crisis over the word "forehead."

you get a comment on tumblr. it's a bot trying to scam you. you get a DM. it's a bot trying to scam you. you get a message on instagram. its a bot trying to scam you. you're an author and you get an email telling you how much they loved your book and want to showcase it at their bookclub. it's a bot trying to scam you (and it uses bad AI to pretend it knows your story). you get a comment on ao3 saying how much they love your fic - and they made you fanart!! it's a bot trying to scam you. you get a hate comment on ao3 which insults your writing or calls you a monster for writing something "problematic". it's a bot. but at least that one isn't trying to scam you.

there's just something really cruel and insidious about this wave of scams going after creatives. You get an email and think someone genuinely loved what you made but - no. It's another scam. It's someone trying to trick you into sending them money. On AO3, it might literally just be a bot someone made specifically to be a hateful little shit.

putting the stuff you've made out there for everyone to see is hard and scary and we're all just bumping around looking for a bit of appreciation and love and connection and these bastards are using that to try to rob us. I hate it.

There are 27 episodes left of Castle Swimmer before it ends! I started working the weekly schedule and got burnt out very quickly.

Ultimately I’ve decided I want to take my time with these final episodes so I’ve decided to work on them slower and push the return date back. I will announce a new date once I have most of the episodes completed. Thank you all for your understanding! 🙏💖
