this is me coming full circle bc i first started posting on tumblr when i got into the supergirl CW show! anybody remembers?

kara has to be my most comfortest character... i love her so much, each and every iterations of her. i watched the movie!! i liked it a lot... i had read the comic a while ago so i have some opinions ofc but, with the amount of negativity and misogyny surrounding the movie, i prefer to keep those for my friends. either way, milly alcock did a wonderful job!!! truly an inspiring and moving portrayal of kara:)

OFC!! one of my favourite things to explore abt supergirl is her relationship w clark... the supercousins r so dear to me.

most of these drawings are my own version of supergirl though mixed with some of woman of tomorrow, the movie and the show... and well :)) lena... gorgeous gorgeous girl.

the second drawing is me thinking abt how instead of just using glasses as a disguise, maybe kara lets her eyes glow whenever shes in supergirl regalia... taking a page out of woman of tomorrow where ruthye described how kara is ALWAYS holding back instead of doing effort to gain speed or strength or anything, shes just always slowing down and controlling herself...

control, grief and anger has always appealed to me when it comes to kara. i think she's the perfect character to explore those with... yeaeyeayea

“Uhura never had another name during the series. One of the fan writers wrote “Upenda” - which means “peace” in Swahili, I understand — not officially, but in some of their fan writings. And it sort of took hold. But when they were going to do the official history of Star Trek in a published book, the writer called Gene and asked him was “Uhura” her first name or her last name? Gene said, “Well, Nichelle and I never decided.” We always leaned towards it being her last name because it’s taken from the Swahili “uhuru” which means freedom. So it would sort of be like the same as “Freeman.” So he said, “You can make it her last name.” The writer said, “What about her first name? I’ve come up with one in Swahili. It’s Nyota.” Gene said, “I can’t give you that permission because Nichelle and I named her together, and she has rights to that, so you’ll have to call her and get her permission.” So he gave him my number, and he called me and I laughed and was delighted. He said, “I have a name and it’s Nyota.” I said, “That’s quite beautiful. What does it mean?” He said, “It means ‘star’.” I said, “You can have my permission!” So I have since said that her name is Nyota Upenda Uhura, which would mean a free-floating star: “star of freedom and peace”. my favorite concept art from HTTYD, you can see the ‘monsters in the dark’ the way the vikings see them, they look genuinely scary in a way, but then Hiccup finds one, lets it come closer and venture into the light, and you can see it’s not so scary at all, (Toothless’s role is often overlooked too -, The fact that he approaches a KILLING viking who MAIMED him, and gives him a chance?, That’s just as important as Hiccup’s willingness to learn, it’s a partnership after all), (via @ave-aria)
