This is a page of a zine made by NO SWEAT about how mega brand #Nike exploited human beings on the other side of the world to make clothes for them under the worst circumstances. Sweatshops are still a thing and not only in 3rd world countries but as well in countries such as the UK. We do anything to not have to work with places like this and always investigate if the employees receive a fair wage and work under decent circumstances. For more information on sweatshops check out No Sweat and http://www.cleanclothes.org/

HOUSE OF ASTBURY IN YOUR TOWN OR CITY? Remember when we did a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for our reflective Thunder Thighs and Eyes on the road leggings? Well, that was only a little bit more than half a year ago! Since then a lot of things changed and we grew loads. We are now not only selling on our webshop but also on Etsy and the awesome Australian video webshop pitchi.com. Circle Sports in Dalston and Curve Dept are our stockist in London. There will be a few more shop and event announcements later on in the year, but we would love to hear from you if you know anywhere that we could sell in your town or city!
Keep spreading the HOA <3

Hi everyone,
Thanks again for all the support we received on Kickstarter! It's hard work to get it all done, but we are happy to tell you that we are up to schedule with our production. The leggings have been cut and printed and the first pairs already made their way to ours. We have to say, they look pretty damn good! Ren is busy with screen-printing the T-shirts, and will hopefully have them ready by the end of the week.
As we promised we are working on bigger sizes and are on the look out for that metallic 4-way stretch lycra. Hopefully we can give you an update about that soon.
Love,
Team House of Astbury
After a couple months of reorganising and scraping money together through a Kickstarter campaign, we can finally announce that our webshop is back online!
For if you didnât know us yet, we make reflective cycle-friendly streetwear with a feminist ethos. You can come to us for waterproof musette bags, bandanas, crazy cat prints on sweaters and T-shirts and more. All printed with reflective ink that lights up with flash photography and direct light, such as car headlights. Have a look on http://houseofastbury.co.uk/ for all our products and information about us.Â
We are working hard on new products and updated versions of previous products and can hopefully tell you more about that soon.
Only a few days left of our Kickstarter, raising enough money for us to manufacture these fabulous feminist reflective leggings!
The leggings are screen printed with reflective ink which lights up in direct light such as car headlights and flash photography - perfect for remaining visible when cycling or running at night. And they are made with 4 way stretch fabric which is ideal for sport and physical activities.Â
The leggings are available in two designs: 'Thunder Thighs' - challenging sexist attitudes towards women's bodies, and 'Eyes on the Road' - challenging the culture of street harassment. They are available in a wide range of sizes, and we hope that if we hit our new stretch goal we will be able to manufacture an even greater range.Â

NEW PRODUCT!
We have a limited run of Cat Sweatshirts available on our shop. In normal light the cat on the front is all cute and sleepy but catch her in car headlights or flash photography and she wakes up! The sweatshirt also features a reflective lower back text print - EYES ON THE ROAD. We only have 20 sweatshirts so get in there quick!Â

HoA on Huffington Post!
A little while ago team HoA did an interview with Clara Cullen and now itâs up on Huffington Post!
'It had something to do with the right people at the right time. In a house in South-East London, by the way of a perfect storm of creativity and righteousness, House of Astbury was born. A clothing company that creates women's reflective cycling wear, House of Astbury makes clothing that is both fashionable and subversive.
The mission statement is simple; create womenâs street wear that is both practical as well as empowering. Not many would think cycling wear could be at the forefront of tackling street harassment, but as House of Astbury has shown, thinking creatively gets the best results.â

Cycling gives you tough, strong, muscular thighs, and whatever shape yours are - whatever crap the media spins about why they're the âwrongâ shape - we think you should be proud of them. We've appropriated this playground taunt (that clearly stems from a fear of being crushed by said thighs) into a sleek print on the road side of our leggings, with a mirror thunderbolt on the other leg.
The design is printed with 3M reflective ink to catch the car headlights as you whizz past at lightning speed! Â
Let me introduce you to our brand new QoM waterproof musettes.
We call it Queen of the Mountains bag, because the print is inspired by jersey awarded to riders who are the best climbers.
While very few of us (but hopefully increasingly more) will ever race and get a chance to earn that jersey, pretty much everyone have to face challenges in life that feel like âclimbing hillsâ. And life sometimes feels like itâs only about climbing hills, and flat bits are short and rare, and there never seem to be any downhill bitsâŠ
Well, itâs about time we get some recognition!
Unfolded, bags are 15âx15â (38 x 38Â cm), in other words they fit a bunch of records, groceries, a lot of cans of beers, or anything of that-ish size :)
The bags were made in Peckham from fully waterproof PU coated polyester, and we used 3M reflective ink for printing.
Queen of the Mountains bags come in three colours: maroon, grey and green, and with straps in three fluorescent colours. You can mix and match the colours.
You can order them from here.
Now go and kick asses of those stupid climbs!
Xx

The proces of making the House of Astbury reflective leggings
Before they go up for sale, we want to show you step by step how these babies came to live..
1. Screen printing with screens double our size. Takes a lot of strength and precision.Â
2. Suns coming up after 12 solid hours of printing. At least we where able to take the first overground back home.Â
3. Sewing all our leggings at home with a steady eye on quality, this took a lot longer than we thought.. Â
4. Dead profesh, we even stuck some labels in as the finishing touch.
Et voila! The results professionally shot by Sophia Baboolal. Â
