I think. For Liyue you can generally break the characters up into three generations and you can relate them and their story arcs to war and Liyue is one big like exploration a nation going from struggling to peace time (which appropriately can be said about China in recent history)
We have Zhongli, the ex-war god whose character conflict is his figuring out What he is without the part of him that is Serving his nation, and the struggle with letting go of his paternalistic feelings to a nation that no longer needs his protection.
We have the young soldiers, Ganyu and Xiao as different reactions to having their childhood defined by battle and their adult life being needing to adjust to ‘normal life’. Ganyu is reintegrating back to society and her character story was about her conflict, Xiao’s is a longer process and we see his survivors guilt
Generally the adepti all have to answer the question of what does their contract of protecting Liyue mean now that there are no more demons or gods to fight and it’s an era of peace.

Then we have the Adults who fall in the end of war to reconstruction period - Ningguang, Beidou, Yelan, Keqing (shes abit younger and her type is abit different)
Generally their childhood was defined by poverty/hardship, but they are able to carve something out of nothing and claw their way to a position of power and wealth that to them is a form of security. It’s like that post war generation that saw industrialisation and large technological change and wealth boom.
Keqing is not like them she’s abit younger I think she fits the New Generation and New Thoughts character type yk. She criticises Rex Lapis’ policy etc
Then we have the Kids. The ones who are distant from struggle and live in an era of peace. Liyue has the largest character cast of Normal Youths - Xiangling, Hutao, Xingqiu, Chongyun, Xinyan, Yunjin, Gaming, Lanyan
They all have alive families (lol) and like they all know each other in their youth (at least the first six) which sounds like nothing but look at the one generation up who are generally alone and one more generation up whose life and stories are defined by the loss of their friends and family.
I think it was intentional that the Liyue kids grew up together and they all have strong ties to their family. Mostly by adopting the family business/art - Xiangling, Hutao, Xingqiu, Chongyun, Yunjin, Lanyan. (The fact that there is a family legacy to inherit. Lol)
