Although there were several moments when I wanted to say ‘Avada kedavra’ to this piece, I’m quite happy how it turned out. =) Thank you J.K. Rowling for inspiring me and so many others with the stories of these enchanting characters.

Imagine a Gryffindor and a Slytherin who both embody every stereotype of their house. They end up getting paired together in potions class, and they abhor one another. They fight over everything and end up getting into a fight one lesson, and after the Slytherin hexes the Gryffindor, the latter dunks the former’s head into the cauldron. Snape gives them both detention for a week, and on the second night he has to leave early, but he threatens them if they misbehave. Both students are slightly scared of the professor, so they continue scrubbing the classroom floors.

They end up talking to each other, and they find out that they both hate Snape and they both think Dumbledore is a little mad. Miraculously, they start to bond, and by the end of the week’s detentions, they’re friends. But of course, if anyone knew they didn’t hate each other, they would be ruined. So they stage little fights that get them detention together throughout the year. And at the end of the year they realize they’re in love.

The two visit each other over the summer, and over the next couple years they date in secret until their seventh year when the Gryffindor surprises everyone and bends down on one knee in the Great Hall.

Years later, the couple’s pair of twins start their first year at Hogwarts. They’re sure that their children will either be in Slytherin or Gryffindor, and they don’t care which.

But to their surprise, the girl is sorted into Ravenclaw. She says the hat told her she was in Ravenclaw because she had been raised to be open minded, accepting, unique, and just a little eccentric. She also didn’t have a bad mind.

And the boy is sorted into Hufflepuff because the hat told him he had been raised to be kind, fair, hard-working, and to treat everyone the same, no matter their label.

The Gryffindor and Slytherin who started out embodying their houses’ stereotypes became the family who broke all stereotypes.

I was on the bus thinking about Harry Potter tonight and I remembered the part where the Dementors all show up at the Quidditch game, and I remembered how they were all looking up at Harry, and I wondered why they would all be staring at him, and then I realized that it’s because he has two souls in him.

On this note, wouldn’t that also be a reason why Harry would have had a more negative reaction than his friends (even Ginny)? He was hearing his mother’s voice as she was protecting him, which in itself was his worst memory. but the Dementors were also forcing the piece of Voldemort to relive its worst memory as well… The memory of being ripped apart by the curse that backfired. No wonder Harry passed out so often.

Oh FUCKING HELL, you just made me realize that it wasn’t Harry’s memory that was his father telling Lily to take Harry and run, and it wasn’t Harry’s memory of Lily screaming.

Here I was, just eating a cup of applesauce under the 14-year-long assumption that the reason a small infant was able to remember something was because this was a fictional world of magic, but no, now this entirely reasonable and somewhat less terrifying bubble has burst and I’m never going to recapture that innocence. 

I’m going to fucking bed.

It does make sense - and the part in Deathly Hallows where Harry relives his parent’s murder through Voldemort’s perspective and memory doesn’t exactly discredit the theory either

I was always under the assumption that he was remembering seeing it as a one-year-old, even though as an Education Major I know that people usually can’t remember that far back but I was just like, hey, he’s magical and maybe Jo just stretched the suspension of disbelief

But now

What if the green that Harry always saw, especially when the Dementors were around, was the small part of Voldemort’s soul reliving that moment that, as someone else pointed out, is probably the worst moment of his life.

I MEAN GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY THIS EVEN DESCRIBES WHY HARRY’S SCAR HURTS WHENEVER HE THINKS ABOUT THIS. BECAUSE IT’S THE PIECE OF SOUL INSIDE OF HIM HURTING!

Something occurred to me while watching Order of the Phoenix.

Umbridge had literally the ENTIRE DADA office painted pink. So the next teacher to come in probably had to have it repainted. But the thing is, the next teacher was Snape. Imagine if Filch didn’t quite get around to repainting the office right away (perhaps he didn’t want to let go of the last bit of his dear Delores’ presence). Imagine Snape sitting in a completely pink office for a month. Imagine him giving students detention, and then having to send them away because he’s too annoyed by their constant giggling. Imagine.
