hello!

i like to read hurt/comfort posts before bed so this is my blog for storing those ^-^ this isn't really a whump blog because of how heavily i lean towards the comfort side of things, but i might be in those tags occasionally. i'm asexual and i hate sex so everything here is sfw.

my pronouns are withheld but you can use they/them for me. i would prefer to keep my main blog separate from this; it's fine if you figure it out, but i'd rather you keep it to yourself if so, thanks! i'm just a bit shy.

i use emojis rather than character tags to keep things more interesting! there will be no master list because that would make it too obvious who i am hehe.

one thing i do ask is that if you post/reblog noncon or nsfwhump, please don't interact with this blog! blogs that meet this criteria will be blocked on sight for my own comfort, sorry.

"That's okay," Whumpee said, its voice strained. It was slowly shutting down, and anything Caretaker did would probably only make it better. "If it's really bad... you can... you can turn me off."

"What?"

"If it's really bad."

"I won't turn you off. You're my friend."

Have your stoic character start shaking uncontrollably, staggering back into the counter, knocking cups over while they slide down to the floor, staring wide eyed ahead of them. Have their lungs seize and shoulders hitch as they struggle to breathe steadily. Then, have someone find them in that state, and try to help them out of their haze, only for the character to snap out of it, a wave of humiliation crashing over them as they realize theyre breaking down in front of someone, and they are helpless to stop it. I really like it when a character is in so much distress that they start self harming about it. Nails digging into their own skin until they bleed. They might not even be aware that they're doing it, it's like an ingrained automatic response to fear for them.

i've thought a bit about this as a wound reveal too (specifically, caretaker was shot during the rescue -> taking off their coat reveals the blood -> we get some role reversal first aid), but i do also really like when caretaker is narratively a pillar of dependability and safety that whumpee can lean on unconditionally in their hour of need, so like . i enjoy this without subversion too. depends what you need from the scene.

another slight twist, which i quite like despite it being a bit morbid, is the coat being stiff with Whumper's blood from Caretaker fighting and defeating them during the rescue. that's something that could certainly disturb Whumpee, but I like the angle of it being neutral-to-comforting,, like, proof positive of the lengths Caretaker will go to to defend them, and proof that those bastards can bleed. it's not pretty but it feels right, you know?

Regarding potential post-whump reactions: The thing about hyper-vigilance is that there's an upper limit to it. Like, eventually, someone can be so on edge and so fried and trying to take in so much that they just stop taking in anything. Not flinching anymore, not keenly attuned to every escape route, not alert to possible dangers—internally restless and keyed up all the same, but it's all static, none of it useful because there's no way to differentiate signal in the midst of all that noise.

I just think its really need to see a stoic character teetering on the edge of their breaking point. The team watches them creep closer and closer to losing it, but they never fully take the plunge, pushing their limits further and further. The team wonders if they even CAN get the character to open up to them.

And when they do break, its catastrophic.

the medical report is out.

"how are you standing right now?" medic asks, horror splashed across their face. it feels like a dream.

vertigo hooks its claws in whumpee's side and makes them sway. they try grabbing at the nearest fixure— which is caretaker. but no, touching only gets them hurt. the next nearest thing is the stool. they miss.

I'm not, they think blearily before pain eclipses their reality. they'd be laughing if they weren't unconscious.

Whumpee who has been hurt and torment and abused to the point where they flinch from even a sideways glance. Being in the same room as Caretaker is hard. Being close, being touched is impossible.

But that’s all they want.

Whumpee craves a hug so much they can barely stand it. They wrap themself in blankets, cuddle with pillows, try everything they can think of.

But the idea of caretaker touching them is so intimidating.

So they start slow. Scooting closer on the couch. Gently leaning their shoulder against Caretaker’s knees. Heart beating wildly, not able to look up at them.

Resting their head on Caretakers’s calf, lap way to scary to try yet.

Asking to hold Caretaker’s hand, twice when they couldn’t go through with it the first time. Feeling Caretaker gently rub their thumb up and down.

They can get better. A little smile.
