Why does so much recent media frown on the concept of pure good vs. pure evil?
It's seen as a "black-and-white" view of things.
Now, everyone has to "grey". Villains have to be "humanised". Heroes have to do some questionable things. "Morally grey" has to be thrown around.
Why?

Interview with the Vampire is... mental
So... I'm currently reading the legendary Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice and all I can say is...
Wow.
What can I say?
These vampires do not sparkle… they drink. And drink. And drink some more. They are real, actual monsters. In human bodies... dives me absolute chills.
Fast paced yet deeply descriptive prose really gives the style of a true interview. The worldbuilding is exquisite and I love it!
I haven't finished yet, just holding on for the ride
BUT... (spoiler warning)
Me: what's the best way to deal with a world facing the rise of AI, climate change, political chaos, impending war and possible apocalypse-
My brain: GO WRITE DARK FANTASYYYY THAT'LL HELP YOUR MENTAL HEALTH(!!)
(seriously take care of your mental health folks)
What is the greatest sin AI has committed?
AI "animation" (videos)
AI "art" (images)
AI "text" (articles and stories)
AI "voiceover" (narration)
Just EVERYTHING!!
Best way to discuss worldbuilding and lore?
What's the best place to showcase your worldbuilding?
Cram it all into the story
Mix it through the story with flavour text and appendices
Explore it in an external project (such as a novella or blog)
A combination or some other way (comment down below)
yeaaaahh I think I might have too many WIPs lol
AI, AI everywhere Not a single word is safe
-me, inspired by Samuel Taylor-Coleridge's "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner"
AI has inspired me to write?!
With the explosion of AI-generated content all over multiple sites, I am inspired to write again, to prove that the human touch is still/will always be better than a giant digital slot machine.
It has also inspired me to laugh at the sheer ridiculousness of it all. From constant repetition to dumbed-down exposition, I fancy breaking it all down, revealing the irritating tropes and the grave misuse of the English language as a parody and exposure.
So...
Welcome to my newest blog
This should be fun...
Amen to that
Isn't AI just a digital slot machine that takes your prompts instead of coins and churns out sentences rather than symbols?

Hey everyone [CLOSED]
I'm still alive btw, just buried up to my neck in work and assessments and deadlines... sorry I haven't been so active lately
If you're currently an alpha reader or critique partner, or are just curious about my writing, I am going to be around on AO3. You can also find my dark fantasy story WIP shared on Ellipsus (warning it's going to be sort of non-linear for now).
More details to follow! DM me if interested...
Also shout-out to @ellipsus-writes! Looking forward to using Ellipsus much more often this year! Your site is awesome
last post of 2025... can't believe there's just hours left
Happy New Year everyone, see you in 2026 (for more writing, more chaos, more fun!)
Just a Thought...
I was just skimming through my inbox when I came across a very interesting statement.
"'Write to please yourself' is wrong. Yes you need to be happy with your work, but you also need to ensure there is a market for what you want to write."
It made me think about all those times I'd thought about tweaking my own stories to make them fit whatever trend was ongoing. Then I'd realise how much I'd struggle to write on trend (romantasy, faeries, spice, etc.). Then I'd think "well no-one's going to read this, it's too vanilla" and come dangerously close to giving up.
Part of me wants to write for me, still. Part of me still wants the chaotic clashing of unrelated fandoms (thanks AO3), the edge-of-the-line tension, the epic moments weaved onto the page.
But... I don't know. Part of me sees bestseller. Part of me sees 'let the stories go free no matter what'.
So, here's the question.
What determines why you write?
I write for myself, to make myself happy
I write for my audience, so I can better aim it for them
It depends on genre
A mix of reasons, or a different one entirely (comment down below)
P.S. Happy Holidays everyone, no matter how you celebrate :)
Whoever left two kudos, thank you :)
welp i guess i'd better finish it now then...
Your story doesn’t need to please everyone. It needs to please YOU. If someone hates it, that’s their problem, not your cue to shrink. KEEP GOING!
this is so important to remember
