teenage girls in fiction: hes so cute i wanna slow dance with him at prom :3 hehe
real teenage girls: imagine if he got injured and i had to tend to his wounds and i could watch him seize up a bit as i disinfect them and in the haze of fever he sees me as an angel
ok guys but imagine how hard it's gonna hit if something good ever happens again
They are even better 🌒
I once sent a woman a text message so interesting that she took three whole days to read it

How I write
I have been writing every day or so for a couple years now and I am starting to get how I get things done!
(usual caveat what works for me does not work for everyone, etc. etc. etc) (also I'm not saying I'm a good writer, only that I show up to work)
Usually it goes like this:
at the very beginning I make a very vague plan that may or may not change dramatically by the time I'm done
then I start writing the chapters in order, a little everyday. That way I don't lose motivation because I already wrote that scene I wanted to write (and which is at the end of the novel. Because it's always at the end of the novel)
Scribbook allows to pick colours for your files, so I'm using it very plainly: red for rough/unwritten stuff, orange for first drafts, and green for the finished chapter. It works for short stories too!
That doesn't mean I write in order whithin a chapter file. Instead I throw in everything. Writing chaotically, without any regard for consistency, rough dialogues, etc. So yeah, it's ugly, but it exists.
my drafts are usually sponsored by (parenthesis/and slashes)
then I reread and edit stuff up. I allows me to notice the several blocks the chapter is made of (ex. One scene in a garden, then another with another point of view in a cellar, etc.) For instance, chapter 14 of the current story is made of roughly three blocks: a big one and two small ones.
the others sponsors are * * * *staaaaars* * * * *
I edit block by block, following my fancy. You know that saying that in order to achieve something ridiculously difficult, you divide it in small difficult tasks, then smaller inconvenient ones, and so on? Well it works. What matters is that at the end, I have a coherent chapter that I can send to my ever-suffering beta-reader. And then I start working on the next chapter.
And when everything is written? It's time for the big edits. But that's a story for another time (because I don't like big edits)
Don't believe the green, I've been meaning to rewrite this thing for two years now

When the story has a sequence where the characters each get personally tortured with their exact personalized greatest fears and traumas
the thing about the concept of gendered socialization is that so many people use it as like another kind of gender essentialism. you know it's not an immutable trait right. you can literally overcome it.
"i'm like this because women are socialized to be shy and quiet and subservient" okay good on you for recognizing it, but that's only the very first step. the next few steps are that you Stop Doing It. feminist thought vs feminist action.
and when ppl see a trans woman being confident and unafraid to take up space and decide it's because of her evil evil male socialization, i'm always like "wait you're saying this woman was raised as a child to be loud and confident and take up space? that's awesome, i thought that's how we WANTED people to raise girls? why exactly is it a problem now? 🤔"
like WHY are you telling trans women that they literally have to make themselves smaller and conform to the WORST gender exceptations of women to be seen as real women. since when is it evil and masculine to be confident, i thought we were supposed to be doing that. i thought that was feminism.

my lord. the two statues you commissioned are finally complete. yeah, the double-order with the vast and trunkless legs of stone and the shattered visage. i like to think we captured the sneer of cold command pretty well. it's a really thought-provoking piece my lord. very deconstructionist. i'm sure that even a traveller a thousand years from now could take one look at it and instantly recognise it must have come from an artistically enlightened culture
