Note to self!
Doris & Doris are a mother and daughter team born in Kenya, living and creating in the UK.
They started making African print dresses in 2005 for an Arts & Craft market in Brixton, London, where they still trade.
Artslang asked Cath Coffey of Doris and Doris to tell us a little more -
“We are inspired by the variety of designs and colours in traditional African fabrics. Our style is a blend of not only of African and British influences, but traditional clothing from all over the world. Bohemian, modern, funky and simple - vibrating from the 60’s and 70’s, striking, stylish women, (Miriam Makeba, Pam Greer, Angela Davis, Betty Davis spring to mind), music straight from the soul, street-life, sun-soaked continents, the good things in life …all coloured by the vibrant and varied flavours of Africa.”
Love their stuff, and love the styling of it too! Someone bring me those African print Jeggings already!

From Africa-inspired to African-made, this guide is the first to celebrate a new wave of fashion designers who are appearing on the global stage. Ever since the late 1960s when Yves Saint Laurent presented African-inspired collections, the textiles, details, and colours of Africa have…
New Logbook
I decided to move my logbook... I really like the whole idea of Tumblre being a network for bloggers and I find soo much inspiring stuff here, but it's too closed. It won't make any sense for me to write a an online logbook if everybody can't comment.
So of to wordpress I went. Please feel welcome to share your thoughts there.
Not at all as userfriendly and no community...but open to all. I'll still be here <3 and reblogging, to get the inspiration from you all. THNX!!
I would love to know where Armani had his Rihana jeans produced...Any one know that?
I know there are being produced jeans in SA and Tanzania.
One jeans brand that I'm interested in is. Wangujeans. http://www.wangujeans.com/
Visual Marketing
One of my reasons for writing my logbook online is to find hands-on inspiration for the digital concept I will be designing for my thesis.
One of my first impulses for creating a digital platform is to have to platform linked tightly with social media, mores so than a like and a share button. Writing in a network like tumblr is an inspiration, but not at all enough... I'm also fascinated with visual marketing.
I find it interesting that Pinterest gives you a tool called "Pin it", so that when you find a nice picture on a website -you can pin it and the picture is automatically added to one of your boards AND made into a link back to the page from where you found to picture. This is visual marketing and visual crediting.
I'm actually chocked that tumblr, which is a strong visual network, does not support a tool like this.
This article has some interesting points on the topic.
I did find this video with Alexandre Alexandre from Mozambique Fashion Week.
Not english unfortunatly...
This makes me think that I might have yet and other user-group to consider. African designers, that needs to show their work to possible investors.
