I’m not sure what’s happening here but I like it
I’ll bet Paul recklessly jumped into the water.
Do you know what I find absolutely poetic? In contrasting his own personality with John’s, Paul has often used the metaphor of “jumping off a cliff.” i.e. John would jump off the proverbial cliff while Paul would wait and watch from the sidelines. Which I definitely believe is true and apt in some ways.
But on the other hand, I’ve watched Paul take some literal dives into pools and oceans (well into his old age) that have made me shudder. I’ve seen him do some crazy stunts- stand on moving bicycles, walk on fences, hang off ladders... Things I can’t even begin to imagine John Lennon ever doing. Which is not to say the metaphor doesn’t work; John could definitely be adventurous in more abstract, intellectual ways. But physically placing himself in harm’s way? No. That’s Paul’s arena.
I love that Paul is a not-so-secret adrenalin junkie, and that people are so busy casting him as a “square” that they don’t even notice how insane he can be.
Case in Point:
The bottom one looks like Miami ‘64, but are the top photos from the Beatles’ Greek Island trip?
OH MY GOD THANK YOU. Why doesnt anyone talk about this??? Why does nobody bother to analyze Paul???
want to have a heart attack? Check out this photo of Paul at 12, hanging off the high-dive at scout camp. THE POOL WAS EMPTY.
