Rusty Needles Tattoo Parlor
Sul sul!
It’s been a little while. I hope everything’s been good on your end!
As you can see, I took a bit of a different turn this time. Before diving into my upcoming Disordinato set, I wanted to take advantage of the new Businesses and Hobbies expansion pack, especially since it added some cool features for tattoos.
I started testing to see if we could create our custom tattoo stamps, and once I realized it worked, I just had to make a full stamp set. Then I thought, “Well, what if we could display these tattoos in live mode too?” So, I made some framed tattoo artworks, then a few more. Next thing I knew, boom! A whole set was born. Totally unplanned.
And that’s how Rusty Needles came to life. This set includes 16 new objects and 34 custom tattoo stamps.
To use the custom stamps, you’ll need the Businesses and Hobbies expansion pack. But don’t worry, I'm planning to upload a few ready-made tattoos to the gallery in the coming days for those who don’t own the pack.
You can decorate your tattoo studio with items like framed tattoo displays that match your Sim’s body art, waiting area seating, and tattoo chairs. (Please note: the interactive tattoo chair does require the Businesses and Hobbies expansion pack, but all the other items work with the base game!)
You can find a full list of included objects down below ⬇️

Here we go...
It was said by Resmaa Menakem, and the full quote is: “Trauma decontextualized in a person can look like personality. Trauma decontextualized in a family can look like family traits. Trauma in a people can look like culture.”
This quote was taken from a podcast interview which Menakem participated in, which you can find here.
I highly recommend “My Grandmother’s Hands” for more of his thoughtful and nuanced words.
ooo ooo this feels like the same flavor of thing as that story about:
except that in the version i read, it was a guy asking the generations of women in a family why they cut off the ends, and the great grandma answered that it was because when she was young her family was so poor and didn't have a big enough oven to fit the entire ham in
the point was that often if you go back far enough, the origin of bizarre, backwards and even harmful traditions/rules of society were often the result of people in that time period making the best of what they had, not because they thought it was the "right" way
the family in this story now has a big enough oven to fit the whole ass ham but its tradition to cut off the ends, its just how its done and the crazy part is that two fucking generations removed don't even know why but they do it without questioning it because thats. how. we've. always. done. it.
so yeah i feel like this melds very nicely with the whole "Trauma in a people can look like culture" thing
So, like, this is going to heal very much like I'm boasting or something, but genuinely: this is why self-reflection and inventory-taking is so important. When we stop and ask ourselves "...why, though?" We can really start to deconstruct the things that don't make sense for us.
A lot of the things I do in my life - or, more importantly, *don't* do are explicitly because I have spent a fuckload of years doing personal inventory, thinking about "why am I doing this? Is this valid? Does this make sense to me to do?" And, subsequently, discarding shit that I think is dumb and doing shit other people might not because it is important *to me*
Along these lines, I have a theory that this is kind of where the “to wash or to not wash your chicken” debate came from in the US. Now, OBVIOUSLY, if you butchered your own chicken or got it directly from a farm, YES. WASH IT! However, meat bought from the store in the US is already clean and does not need to be washed again before cooking. (At this point, you do you, idc what any individual does with their own groceries! Wash/brine/scrub your meat if you want!)
However, over the generations, it just became "the way we prepare chicken". Great grandmothers who got meat from the local farms or their own farms/coops washed the meat, so their daughters did the same, and eventually their daughters did the same. So now, even when the meat has been washed by the store and is clean according to the standardized metrics, the families still wash their meat because thats just how they do it.
From what I’ve noticed, there has also been a huge ethnic divide in this debate as well, whether it is families from African decent in the US washing their meat or families of immigrants washing their meat in what looks to me like a brine (water, salt, lime, spices, etc). Where as many white families and creators just use the chicken directly from the package, and I can only assume that this comes from that place of privilege of not really having to buy meat from local farmers or markets as recently in their family history. That habit or “tradition” was removed earlier in the lineage due to statistically better access to grocery stores and “clean” meat due to their privilege.
Cis men are trying to deflect and deny their manifest sexual abuse of women by creating the fictional 'trans women offender'.
Don't trust cis rape culture to protect women.
My own dad saying "Well if I had been able to just say I was a woman and go into the girl's bathroom in high school, I would have!" Like it's a funny joke. Not realizing that he just outed himself. No dad, I am not afraid of trans women. I am afraid of men like you.
Listen, if a Bad President can come in and take away our rights and we're dependent on a Good President replacing them in four years to give us back our rights, then we do not have any rights.
If politicians can take or distribute them, then they're not "inalienable" and they're not "rights."
We don't have inalienable rights we have conditional privileges, divvied out according to the whims of whoever currently holds the reins.
And if we want to have actual rights, then we must build a system in which no one has the power to take them away to begin with.

hope the possibility of cheaper eggs and gas was worth it.
I’m irate.
I accidentally ended up on a call that my dad was on (I was checking on my grandfather in the hospital and my dad happened to be there and the phone was on speaker)
And he said “oh, we’re great! Trump is back in office” and I’m just
So
So
Angry.
Like yeah, I hope you’re just great when you can’t buy insulin.
I hope you’re just great when all your fucking meds are too expensive for you.

I hope you’re just phenominal when minorities are being unfairly detained and targeted. Because you’re such a loving Christian, right? You’re such a loving wonderful Christian, so you’ll just be thrilled when anybody who doesn’t believe or think the same way you think is being targeted and oppressed worse than they are right now.
I hope you’re phenomenal when you think about the fact that you voted along the same lines as Nazis and KKK members. What a kind, wonderful, devout Christian you are.
Your mother would be fucking ashamed of you.
It’s uncanny how similar Trump is acting like Hitler. People are now doing the Nazi salute. They’re drawing the symbol. The KKK was seen in Kentucky asking people to join them. ICE has been ripping families apart. Companies have pulled back Diversity Initiatives. We’re no longer part of WHO and there won’t be any communication from the CDC at least until February 1st. We’re being censored and the news can’t be trusted. Thousands of Americans didn’t know there were protests against Trump yesterday outside the U.S. Quotes from The Handmaid’s Tale and Anne Frank have been compared to what’s going on right now.
According to The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Studies and Prevention the U.S. has officially been given a red flag alert for Genocide.
I’m exhausted but I will never stop being angry.
Reminder to people upon gaining power it took Hitler only 57 days to dismantle German democracy and declare himself dictator and start purging the "undesirables"
Every time I see "um actually executive orders take time to implement" I want to shake you and actually point you at the literal communications and actions happening IMMEDIATELY in the federal workforce. Which is what these orders are targeting.
The Dept of Ed already put people on paid leave and took down 200 web pages and cancelled 2.6 mil in grant money. The National Institute of Health, which is the biggest federal funder of biomedical research in the country/world, just cancelled its grant review process because those grants and the reviewers were all trained to include diversity support statements. This is happening to the NSF. NASA already started putting employees who do DEI on paid leave and encouraged other employees to snitch on people. The CDC is not allowed to communicate with the public.
This is happening now. Who the fuck cares of it gets challenged in court? It's *happening now.* Reversing it in court in several months (if we're so lucky, which I am NOT confident in, actually) does not necessarily give people back their jobs (or put them in a position to accept them if they are legally forced to get a chance to return to them) and does not undo hostility in the workforce that this has sown and does not give out grant money that was withheld.
And it's not just DEI. it's Accessibility too. It's happening *now.* Policies are getting reversed, and people are going to lose their jobs. Period.
No one is looking at the news and actually reading it. Everyone is just biting their nails at the headlines and letting people falsely comfort them that they don't need to worry or do anything yet.
