"i'm mad bear got off easy!!!" but... he didn't. nothing about his situation in the movie was easy. not even his death. reminder he did not WANT to die- he FEARED death after he realized what he was doing and was in the process of trying to undo it before nikki's wish took him over. death was the worst possible thing that could have happened to bear on top of everything we saw, especially because all he wanted was nikki- and now as a dead man he can never have her.

most criminals we observe don't seem to fear a life sentence or jail time. the way they see it, that's "getting off easy" for crimes they KNOW should be punishable by death. death in response to a heinous crime is not "getting off easy", it's GETTING WHAT THEY DESERVE.

bear deserved to die after everything he did to nikki!!! instead of seeing it as him "getting off easy", look at it as him getting what was coming to him!!! yes nikki's ending seems more harrowing than his because she'll never be able to escape the trauma of what happened to her. but there are so many possibilities of her getting some kind of relief or semblance of healing if we think past "oh she's never getting out of jail/the psychiatric ward". the director himself even said he's open to a sequel with a possible plot of nikki getting out of jail. meanwhile bear is definitively dead (a wish can not bring someone back to life) and there's no possibility of him ever finding happiness or even being able to fake a normal life. he was digging his grave the WHOLE movie, and i know for a fact that if it ended with him surviving and getting away with everything y'all would be complaining that he didn't die!!!

I am, in part, glad for this confirmation! I know what pronouns Jax would want and people can't be obtuse about her transness in general anymore.

The vibes of this post are kinda weird though.

Jax doesn't get to be a visible woman in the show's million dollar merch or brand deals. She's still getting stuffed into a maid dress against her will because Gooseworx admitted it's her fetish. She's presented as a "guy" in Fortnite.

I wish we had seen Leeroy, the apparently healthier and optimistic version of Jax, starting on her journey toward transitioning. Just a hint of using a new name or using she/her would've been appreciated. It's nice to have visible representation in your actual show.

On that note, creators need to stop putting pertinent information and lore into blog posts. Please let your show speak for itself. It's kind of parasocial to expect fans to keep up to date with your character information via blog posts. Ribbit's pronouns, for example.

The idea of “but everyone knows that” needs to stop.

I saw a post about someone chiding Millennials for not knowing about JKRowlings transphobia, and asking how it is at all possible that people can exist in the world and the internet and, you know, not know.

Which I mean, I get. It is so present in so many of my online spaces that it seems astounding that someone could simply be ignorant! It feels impossible!

But let me tell you a story:

I went on a girls trip with a bunch of friends. All of us are rather incredibly liberal and all of us are incredibly online.

One girl would not stop talking about Harry Potter.

At one point, another girl asked her why she was ok with supporting it, and she had no real clue that JK Rowling was at all transphobic. She had heard that she likes to support Lesbian causes and thought “oh ok cool!” And that was it. She was AGOG with the news and rather horrified.

I must once again emphasize that she was an incredibly online person. She’s a foodie and a restaurant blogger.

Later in the trip we were picking restaurants and I suggested one I found on Google, and she gasped at me. Actually gasped, asking how I could ever be okay picking that one.

The shock must’ve been on my face, because she then told me all of the shitty things that restaurateur does. He abuses staff. Underpays them. Fires them on a whim. Is known for being one of the worst people to his employees in the entire restaurant business on this coast.

And she was so shocked I had never heard of this. Because in her mind, I was just as online as her. And in her online world, EVERYONE knew about this guy.

So I think the moral of this story is: always approach the other person with some empathy. Even online people, even people you think MUST know about how bad people are, may not have heard. It may truly be just them being on a different sphere of the internet than you.

So be gentle, be kind when letting people know they might not have heard about the cancellation of XYZ person. Don’t assume that everyone knows all the same info as you.

By all means, let them know so they can make informed decisions, but being kind will go a lot further than attacking them for some info they might not know yet.

Charlie: Literally doesn't do anything despite being the princess of Hell. She doesn't help the sinners to redeem themselves if not through patronizing methods ("just say sorry" "stop with sex and drugs"). Doesn't use her authority on the Overlords abusing their powers because that would be too mean (even if they harm her friends) but act like a pretentious arrogant towards the angels. Refuses to listen.Doesn't even bother to know what these sinners have done to gain Hell in the first place despite wanting to redeem them. Basically, doesn't care about Angel Dust getting abused and leaves him to his fate of being SA by Valentino. Blame everyone else for her mistakes. Cares more about the reputation of her hotel than doing anything concrete about her ideals.

Vaggie: She may not be submissive to men, but dear god, she's incredibly submissive to Charlie. The narrative doesn't even bother to make her exorcist past a big deal. Got her wings cut off for sparing a child-sinner, but she doesn't seem to have any of these sinners she killed for years in her conscience. She doesn't know that angel weapons can harm angels, even though Lute (an angel) harmed her. Her only character is being Charlie's love interest. Despite knowing that these exorcists are abused victims like her, she happily joins Charlie in a war against them, brutally murdering them.

Millie: 90% of her character is being Moxxie's fiancee. Is not bad that she's a good wife to Moxxie, but that's about it for her.

Loona: The show tries very hard to paint her as someone who is tough outside but fragile inside, but she's physically abusive to Blitzo when she gets mad and bullies Moxxie. All her abusive moments are played for gags, which makes her moments of softness look too forced and superficial. She's the embodiment of modern Bart Simpsons.

For anybody not caught up: Tennessee just passed a new map that pretty much makes it so black neighborhoods have no power in local votes. Two things about this. While protestors were chanting "No Jim Crow", white Tennessee lawmakers were caught laughing on video. On top of this, Representative Justin Pearson and his brother KeShaun Pearson were arrested for trying to give their takes on the matter (which is not only their legal right but literally his job). If you give a shit about black people, help fight this. We can't allow a return to Jim Crow.

i really don't wanna talk about noir II's corny, auraless death (my shock is transcendent right now because my hopeful ass was banking on him at least killing kevin before the show's end) but as a day one black noir enjoyer i DO like the parallel where both noirs were killed by the member of the seven they were close to, with some kind of front body injury.

i also really like how it was noir II's biggest personal flaw that ended up getting him killed- his inability to assimilate to his role as black noir. the talking specifically but also generally being inable to exude the same confidence and awareness of surroundings that earving had.

update: the person sent me five paragraphs detailing how the writers are dumb and that there were numerous ways sage could have fucked off to be alone if that's what she wanted, despite me detailing how it ISN'T what she actually wants. i genuinely can't believe there are people who don't get the context of her not JUST wanting to be alone, she also wants humanity to suffer!!!
