Did I lie? Did I fucking lie???
Believe it or not this ship is serious to me
First time ever I made illustration, and it's just because the scene in this fanfic was so hilarious in my head: giant wolf Yokai "spying" on Danzo, because most people can't see him ꉂ(≧▽≦)

(not the greatest art, but I needed to sketch it as idea was not leaving me alone)
神無月 (kan-na-zuki) "October" (archaic)
神 = god 無 = not 月 = month
The modern Japanese word for October is 十月 (literally "10th Month), however in the old-fashioned calendar is was known as 神無月, or "the month with no gods".
In October, all the gods in Japan (there are believed to be 8 million of them) go to Izumo Shrine in Shimane Prefecture for a meeting, thus leaving most of Japan with no gods.
The huge shimenawa (sacred rope) at Izumo Shrine.
It's the Month of No Gods again!
Unless you live in Shimane, in which case you get ALL THE GODS.
skibidi toilet is not hard to understand, not any more than any other lolrandom youth meme that has ever existed. if you don't want to turn into a hey-kids-get-off-my-lawn guy just go watch a couple of the videos and maybe skim the wikipedia article instead of telling yourself this is totally different from when your parents insisted your generation's jokes weren't funny
not only is skibidi toilet not hard to understand it is actually way less confusing than the average flash cartoon that did numbers on newgrounds in the early aughts. anyone who genuinely can't handle skibidi toilet would be instantly annihilated if they viewed arfenhouse or salad fingers. i'm going to start a moral panic about gen alpha's humor not being random enough actually
here, i will explain skibidi toilet. one day an eastern european guy used video game mod tools to make a short animation of a head popping out of a toilet and lip syncing to a mashup of timbaland's "give it to me" with biser king's "dom dom yes yes." the video was unexpectedly popular, probably mostly because the song is weirdly catchy in a slightly ominous sort of way.
the guy followed up with the first video with a couple sequels but pure randomness gets old fast so he decided it would be funnier if he started hinting that there was some sort of lore going on. the next several videos vaguely implied that the toilet head guys were some sort of invading force at war with some other dudes who have security cameras for heads. at this point there's like 70 episodes so the lore has inevitably grown more defined and detailed and there are actual story arcs now but tbh it was funnier when everything lived in implication.
"skibidi" does not actually mean anything even in gen alpha slang, it's just a reference to the scat lyrics of the song. you will occasionally hear the youths say things like "you're so skibidi" or "oh my skibidi" but when they do that they're mostly just making fun of how grownups think it secretly means something.
this is everything you need to understand! go forth with confidence.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
It was just waiting to happen
(shudder)
the reddit thread has some even more upsetting context from OP:
"Oh, and there's an introduction at the front that talks about how the book was written by an expert on mushrooms. Googling the man's name shows no relevant results on Google. It appears he is a fictious [sic] creation."
"It lists the author as having a Masters Degree in Mycology from University of East Ontario. A search later revealed there is no "University of East Ontario.""
Can't wait for the uniqueness of the holocaust to be a topic of importance in a political campaign in america in 2024. That's how it should be. That's normal
It's true, the Holocaust isn't unique, it holds the largest impact because it is the most recent one, at least for jews, given time other genocides will overshadow it, and it should be taught in the same vein as other historic atrocities.
There was the Effacer le tableau.
The Hutu massacres of the first Congo war.
The Rwandan Genocide.
The Bosnian Genocide.
The Isaaq Genocide.
The Anfal campaign.
The Gukurahundi.
The Cambodian Genocide.
The East Timor Genocide.
The Ikiza.
The Bangladesh Genocide, which may have a repeat very soon.
The Holodomor.
The Great Leap Forward.
The Armenian Genocide.
I can go on.
To limit education to but one atrocity, when all of these happened in the same century is an attempt to reframe or even hide these atrocities, for instance I have seen many socialists defend both the Holodomor and the Armenian Genocide, it does those being educated a disservice by treating the Holocaust as unique while surrounded by a myriad of other heinous genocides.
I will say context is important, and I don't know the context here, but yeah he's right to acknowledge the many other genocides that exist.
I mean the context in the screenshot provided is obviously correct and vindicates what Walz is saying. Someone screenshotted that as proof Walz was wrong because they could not read the words in it, just that it somehow disagrees with them.
He fucking says, right there, "to exclude other acts of genocide severely limited students' ability to synthesize the lessons of the Holocaust and ability to apply them elsewhere," that's the quote that this thread's OP and Twitter OP both looked at and got enraged by without reading! Guess what? If you teach people the Holocaust was completely unique and unprecedented and unrelated to any other patterns of behavior, the take-home lesson is that it might as well have been done by space aliens and there's no reason to be concerned with what humans are doing!
and by divorcing the Holocaust from all other genocides, it also allows people to not have a framework of other mass atrocities, which surprisingly enough seems to make them believe that the holocaust could have actually NOT happened, considering how they don't have a framework about how often atrocities happen.
the follow-up here is that when walz taught his class of sophomore high school students about the holocaust, he had them extensively study other genocides and the social conditions that preceded them. the class wrapped up with a group project trying to predict where the next genocide was most likely to take place
(this was in 1993)
and where did they collectively conclude the next genocide was most likely to happen?
Rwanda.
if, like me, you can't remember the date of the Rwandan genocide off the top of your head, it kicked off in April 1994.
So ... when Tim Walz says that studying the Holocaust as part of a pattern is vitally important, he is not talking out of his ass.
It's not even the most recent one. The Holocaust holds such an impact in the US education system because the US gets to come out in the "right side" as opposed to many of the other genocides where they are not so easily in the right. It is also the one Westerners can't stomach because it happened in their "civilized" country as opposed to the other ones that they can write off as happening in "uncivilized" places.
anyway every so called criticism of Walz only wants to make me vote for the Harris/Walz ticket even more.
Sometimes people are just soooo close to getting it.

im so glad almost all detective media seems to recognise the very important fact that being a detective is inherently homosexual
idk man but something about Stanley "taught himself extremely advance physics/math/probably many other things while running a relatively successful business" Pines and Stanford "is wanted in almost every dimension with a judicial system of some kind" Pines is sooo fucking funny to me
I need this in a fanfic, a comic book, an audio book, and on a billboard. 10/10 idea.
