Same Raya, same…
Different people respond better to different types of therapy, and most therapist will do multiple types of therapy with their patients.
CBT - Most common type of therapy because it works well for all mental health problems.
ACT - Especially helpful for treating anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, OCD, psychosis and substance abuse.
DBT - Specifically created for BPD. This type of therapy works really well for personality disorders, PTSD, eating disorders, substance abuse and impulsive control disorders.
Interpersonal therapy - Created to treat major depressive disorder but is now also used for other depressive and mood disorders.
There are lots of other types of therapy too (:
Gonna add my two cents as a research psychologist:
CBT does NOT work well if the individual has a history of being emotionally manipulated or gaslit, nor does it work well when the individual is working through traumas that have been used against them or disbelieved. CBT can feel like gaslighting, toxic positivity, denial of the seriousness of a situation, or emotional manipulation if not done very carefully. As such, it might be best to avoid it and find something else if you have a history of problems with the aforementioned experiences.
ACT also works REALLY WELL for individuals coping with sudden and "devastating" changes! It's often adapted for use by disability specific clinics to help newly diagnosed patients learn to cope with the limitations on their environments. People with disabilities (PWDs) tend to feel pressured to not express their disability related distress around non-PWDs and, as such, tend to see those feelings as shameful. There's a lot of "I should be more grateful" or "it's not as bad as it could be" feelings around disability as a result of this pressure and ACT is great for undoing them!
DBT is generally amazing for stress disorders and preventing stress disorder symptomatology in at risk populations. It teaches you stress tolerance skills and how best to avoid or diminish conflicts, allowing you to avoid the sorts of environmental triggers that commonly worsen stress disorder symptoms.
Interpersonal therapy is also great for neurodivergent folks, victims of childhood emotional abuse, and children of parents with untreated/unmanaged psychiatric disorders. Essentially, if you grew up with difficulty interacting effectively with and relating to others, interpersonal therapy can help you understand why and change those interactions in the future. Healthier relationships and social interactions are a great way to break the cycle of abuse for those of us raised by parents who were emotionally abusive and/or had untreated mental illnesses.
Since no one has mentioned it on this post, I'd like to add that most therapists these days practice a sort of integrative therapy. They'll take what they find most effective from each type of therapy for each individual problem, and piece together something a little more tailor made for their patients. This is part of why seeing an actual therapist is so important. Not every aspect of the aforementioned therapies will be relevant to every problem. Some aspects may even be harmful to handling some problems. The therapist is trained to pick out these things and adjust accordingly, unlike the average self help book or online resource. But knowing the types of therapies available and what you want to get from therapy is an immense part of finding a therapist that will suit your needs, so please research things carefully and think over what you need before selecting one!
Go to therapy, y'all!

concept: elves are supernaturally good at everything ONLY because they live to be bonkers old and if you were hot and sexy for thousands of years you’d be kickass at archery and treeclimbing and horseback riding too. but like there’s 20 year old elves out there that are just straight dumbasses who can’t do shit.
concept: non-elves can’t tell the 20 year old elves apart from the 2000 year old elves
concept: there’s a 20 year old elf in your tavern and he’s counting on this
y’all heard her
thanks noelle but maybe put more canon trans characters in your show next time
Just thought I’d leave this here.
Being hyper critical of a show that is doing its best for minority representation does nothing to help that they did try. They are paving the way for the next cartoon / or any media in general. Please pass on the message as you see fit.
I’m not even the biggest she ra fan I’m just tired of people clowning on every media that attempts to have lgbtq+ representation, good post
It’s fine to take a moment and celebrate what Noelle did manage to accomplish.
You can want more and adcocate for more, that’s fine, but wanting a better future for LGBTQ+ media doesn’t mean that you have to attack what we have right now.
In fact, it actually helps if you engage with and support media that genuinely tries.
Noelle was fought the whole time on the show’s content. She still managed to get the ending where two women saved the day with the power of their explicitly romantic love. In a kids’ show. How is that not amazing?
I’m over 40. I am TELLING you. This would have been literally unthinkable when I was a kid. Even just 10 years ago it wasn’t a thing that was going to happen. Even FIVE.
Rep for trans folks in media isn’t going to happen all at once. It’s a long and horrible slog. It’s step by step. I, too, want more canon trans characters in shows. Noelle tried. Tested the waters with Perfuma and was strongly denied. You CAN’T BLAME HER. You blame the network. We didn’t get the rep we all want this time. But we got two women in love. Saving the world. With that love. No tragedy, no dead lesbians, but an actual victory. That’s worth celebrating. And it shows the studio execs that you can have this content and not have the show rejected by the public.
God, I feel old and this is irritating.
I come from an era when even the tragic gays and camp comic relief didn’t really exist onscreeen, CERTAINLY not in kids’ shows. A lot of y'all teens and twentysomethings don’t know how good you have it. I hate saying that, it makes me sound like a crotchety old coot, but it’s true. She-Ra was an incredible experience and I cried because this was the cartoon I needed as a kid, and someone like me finally got to be the hero.
I mentioned before that one of my favorite tropes in fiction is people having dissonantly irrelevant concerns while they are actively dying because they are not thinking straight.
Whenever I have convulsive syncope reactions I end up thinking just... the very stupidest thoughts in the world:
Me, falling off an exam table and smashing my face on a concrete floor while my body thrashes around: “Oh, how silly of me, I should have removed my glasses before I did this. This can’t be good for them.”
Me, dragging myself across the floor to the bathroom door, slipping in and out of consciousness, convinced I’m dying: “Oh, my roommate is in the bath. She loves taking long, luxurious soaks. I don’t want to bother her and interrupt her ‘me time’. I can probably hang on a bit longer.”
Me, collapsing and convulsing on the floor in front of my panicking parents: “Uh-oh! I think that weird rattling moaning sound is coming from me. What if my parents hear it? They might think I’m having sex! How embarrassing.”
Actually this makes the idea of ghosts being dead souls with “unfinished business” incredibly depressing/funny.
Like, if you get murdered, and your delirious dying concerns aren’t something reasonable like “bringing your killer to justice” or “making sure your child knows the truth about their father”, are you going to be cursed to walk the Earth forever haunting an old trash heap because you got blood on your neighbor’s carpet and can’t find peace until it’s professionally cleaned? How embarrassing!
As someone who's had several near-death experiences in the last few years, I'd like to say we're all idiots in the moments prior to snuffing it. I think it's our brains trying to save us from the trauma we're enduring. It wants to give us one last rush of silly fun hormones, so nothing seems all that serious. It's only if you have the audacity to survive that you have to deal with how cringe it is to have your potential last thought be "oh, worm?" as a doctor yells they're going to have to intubate you.
miles “who’s morales” morales’s biggest weakness is the cover story
peter, lying out of his ass: i was, uh, married to his uncle aaron. he just never let you know
Jefferson, later: Do you think Aaron never told us because Peter’s…
Rio: …Tall
Jefferson: I didn’t think Aaron liked … Tall people.
Jefferson: “But listen: Aaron might have married a white boy just to annoy me, specifically. It’s a thing he would do!”
Rio: “I can’t hear you. I’m asleep. I have a shift in four hours.”
I really wish there was a way Uncle Aaron lived and came back to meet his “husband” at some point now.
Aaron: …Miles…I love you, and I am proud of you…but you are somehow the smartest and dumbest boy I have ever known.
Miles: Says the man who used his big brain to become a criminal when he could’ve been a black Tony Stark with that gear he made. And thought working for the Kingpin, who everyone knows will throw his minions away like tissues, was a good idea!
Peter: He makes a good point, babe, you did kind of mess up first–
Aaron: Call me babe again and see what happens. I’ll whoop you with a collapsed lung.
All I see is “fake marriage au, but it’s also enemies to lovers”
If I ever stop reblogging this post, assume that I have yeeted myself off this mortal coil
Slow burn but it's written by an impatient person
This doesn't affect the speed of the developing relationship at all, but does make for a very passive aggressive narrator.
I love how “loose white shirt, high-waisted pants” is THE go-to pseudo-historical costume for every single genre, despite no one at any point in history actually wearing clothing like that except as undergarments.
everyone’s refined high society aristocrat vampire OCs are just chilling in their underwear at all times and that’s valid
After a year living in isolation I too wear only pajamas now, and I get it.
Hey, so we all remember this lady, yeah?
She’s cospaying the Resident Evil tall vampire lady now.
She’s also a bronze medal-winning Olympian with the Russian basketball team. Maybe go visit her instagram?
