"a dreamer," scorns her mother. "a dreamer," mourns her father. "a dreamer," warns estele. still, it does not seem such a bad word.

Franz Kafka, 1912
the demon that cursed you with infertility and the fey that you promised your firstborn are having a legal battle.

“how to be a ghost in your own skin: watch the one you love slowly forget about you, until you are no more than a distant memory”
— graveyard of the living // s.g.
“The villains were always ugly in books and movies. Necessarily so, it seemed. Because if they were attractive—if their looks matched their charm and their cunning—they wouldn’t only be dangerous. They would be irresistible.”
— Horrorscape, Nenia Campbell
“I lie awake at night, dreaming of all the things I want to do to your body, of leaving marks on your skin so that everyone knows that you are mine. And only mine. (…) But you fight yourself even as you fight me, and I love that, too. I love watching you squirm, because it gives me some idea of how you’ll look when I’m inside you. I want to be your last thought at night, and your first taste at dawn. I want to teach you, own you, control you.”
— Nenia Campbell, Horrorscape
Them: you can't even cOMPARE kaz to the darkling!!11 the darkling is pURE eViL and kaz is just a traumatized 17 year old child!!! the darkling traffics teenage girls and kaz is a feminist icon uwu
Leigh Bardugo: I think the Darkling is a much more noble character than Kaz. The Darkling may have lost the thread in terms of his humanity and the cost of human life, but he has, ostensibly, noble goals. He’s a patriot, he believes in protecting his people, he’s trying to build a future for the Grisha that isn’t one of persecution. There are a lot of ways to defend the Darkling that don’t work for Kaz, who is very much out for himself, and out for revenge. And revenge is not necessarily a noble goal. It’s something you sympathize with, but it’s not something that is bigger than him. [x]
