finally. the part i wanted to see adapted.
Trying to recommend people watch Yu-gi-oh is always an insane pitching experience because the basic premise, what the show's about, and the actual meat-and-potatoes plot mechanics are all extremely different from one another.
The premise for DM is that some kid has an amnesiac ancient egyptian ghost haunting him and various billionaires are going to try to divest him of his jewellery. What DM is about is platonic devotion, staying true to your friends, the all encompassing power of love, and the eventual burden of moving on from death. This entire thing is painted in the aesthetics of 90's punk and visual kei.
The premise for GX is a kid attends card game high school and goes on wacky adventures. What GX is about is growing up, about seeing the world get more and more dark as you get older until you don't think you are the same person anymore, and having to hold onto the things that make you you. The later seasons draw heavy inspiration from lovecraftian cosmic horror.
The premise for 5Ds is a street punk has to team up with new friends and old enemies to fight on behalf of ancient south american space gods. What 5Ds is about is classism, and tools of oppression in a hi-tech futuristic society that is literally powered by magic. The visual language ping pongs between classic cyberpunk grunge and ultra sleek hypermodern.
The premise for Zexal is a different kid with a different amnesiac ghost that lives inside his necklace team up to find his memories. What Zexal is about is human connection, about reaching out a hand into the dark, about not being alone, and the pointlessness of war. This entire thing is themed with elements of the christian bible.
The premise for Arc-V is a theatre kid who travels the worlds spreading cheer and smiles with his circus performances. What Arc-V is about is child soldiers, and indoctrination into the military industrial complex, and the emotional dissonance that forms between events of trauma and day-to-day survival. One of the characters is inexplicably a traditional japanese shinobi.
The premise for VRAINS is a depressed highschooler cybercrime-ing his way through the internet so he can find answers to why he was kidnapped and tortured when he was 8. What VRAINS is about is the future of corporate greed, about healing, about what makes a consciousness, and the poisoning power of hate. A solid 50% of the story is just really good goofs on modern internet culture.
But if you just throw on a random episode of any one of those, the actual construction of any given one are going to be pretty much the same: It's all Card Games babeeeey

@whumpusgumpus / and *anyone who comes across this bcuz I need more friends lmao
• Favorite color : Blue!! It’s been one of favorite colors ever since I was a kid. It calms me and it helps that most of my favorite characters tend to be associated with it (Dimitri, Yusei, Sypha, and now Luke from streets)
• Last song: Either Retry Now / いますぐ輪廻 by Nakiso or Pact with God by Nero’s Day at Disneyland
→ Currently reading : Nothing at the moment but I still gotta finish the Persona 4 Arena Ultimax manga ehehehehee
• Currently watching : Just watched K-Pop Demon Hunters and it was really good, the soundtrack was really good :3
• Currently craving : The energy to draw bcuz I’ve been POOPED lately. I’ve actually been busy for the first time in my life this is nuts lmao
(me frfr)
Adachi honestly strikes me as such a non-well adjusted man, I do not see him reacting well in the event a woman he was romantically involved with were to suddenly die. Not only would he be consumed by his grief, he would be filled with so much anger, I could see either of these scenarios occurring:
If somebody murdered her, he would kill this person and then himself
If she committed suicide, he would then follow suit so he could follow her to hell
If her death was ruled as a suicide but he suspects foul play was involved, Adachi probably wouldn't believe it and only bring himself to live on so he could figure out what happened. After solving her case, though, he would then talk to her at her grave while sporting a sad smile along his lips and carrying a bouquet of flowers he had managed to save up enough money for, but similarly to the previous two scenarios, would likely end up killing himself.
If she succumbed to an illness, he would kill the ones he believed committed medical malpractice before killing himself
His thought process would genuinely be, 'I don't want to live in a world where she's gone!' and 'I don't care if she can't cook a single thing for me ever again. I still want her back!' In fact, Adachi wouldn't see a point of living on when the person he cares about most is dead and would rather end it all than deal with his emotions or process his grief, especially because he wouldn't be able to afford a therapist and mental health isn't something Japan has a good track record with.
Adachi also doesn't have a good support network the way Yu does or a child to take care of (like Dojima), so nothing would really tether him to the world by that point. To make matters worse, he already has so little to look forward to as it is, he wouldn't view life as something worth living when there's now a hole in his heart he can't bring himself to fill.
Plus, when you consider his Persona is Magatsu-Izanagi and the Izanagi of Japanese mythology travelled to the underworld to retrieve Izanami, his wife, I think it tracks for him to ultimately commit suicide to misguidedly be with the person he loves.
Aaaaaaaaa I always love reading your interpretation of Adachi! He’s a lonely man that has been left jaded and maybe a bit hyper vigilant from that social isolation.
If the one person that showed him genuine love and care were to die, I don’t think he’d survive or be left unscathed.
Plus if he were to think that the police were trying to cover her death up, he’d be taking full advantage of his authority as a detective. A little ironic that a corrupt detective would be upset at a corrupt police force. He’s probably cynical enough to have already thought that already though
Sylvain and Mercedes, because I haven't drawn enough of these two! (also because I want to do some colour relativity practice (I think that's what it's called))
obsessed with drawing him

Mad at Tekken 8 not just because of the absolute state of it, but because they smashed the "generic bikini DLC" with the "individualized swimsuit" DLC and put in as much effort as a texture swap. It's literally so easy to make swimsuits and some of your cast are already wearing outfits with designs that can be partially repurposed to make a unique look...are they not paying their artists and designers right now or something.

I really gotta say this.
The ones saying "Oh, they actually came up with new designs for swimsuits now"
Bro, I feel sad about you but your bar in in hell!
THIS
THIS
This is the easiest decision they can do for Xiaoyu and all they need is to add flower prints from her Tekken 4 outfit.
But you gave her a silver bikini
And this
Anna deserved SO MUCH BETTER than a red and black bikini. Girlie is a ✨diva✨ and therefore deserved the swimsuits meant to slay on the beach.
Do you guys at Bandai-Namco even talk to a woman before designing these swimsuit packs?
Cuz last time I heard about Capcom's design team, they consult with their female co-workers before finalizing their outfit designs. They KNOW their TARGET AUDIENCE
