I REALLY LOVE RITSU’S DEVELOPMENT WITH HIS POWERS BECAUSE on the outside it seems like your typical “getting drunk on power” trope, especially with ritsu going on about how he’s “lost his limits”, it almost seems like ritsu is turning out to be a “villain” in the series at first

but then you think about how seriously repressed ritsu is and how he feels so powerless compared to the brother that hurt him in the past, and ONE takes this cliche media trope and turns it into the unhealthy coping mechanisms of a traumatized child desperate to feel some semblance of security in himself and his place in life, a “gifted child” with no friends but plenty of people that want to use him - his popularity, his smarts - for their own personal gain that finally found himself and in turn used those people for his gain.

because he’s just a kid. he’s not some evil, scheming adult that wants to hurt for the sake of hurting people like the power-hungry trope would imply. he’s just a scared kid trying to find himself
