Halloween is right around the corner and usually I ignore preparations for this holiday and pull out my good and trust Alice Lolita if the opportunity to dress up presents itself. But this year, my husband and I will be attending a super Halloween party, complete with costume contests, and the pressure is on. This, partnered with my interest in making some RenFest costumes, seemed like some good…

It's Rough, But It'll Do
It’s Rough, But It’ll Do
I’ve started editing and it is quite the whirlwind! I am so excited to be able to read through the story. There are so many funny things that happen near the beginning that I had totally forgotten about! When I finished, I felt like the story had been so static, but going back to the beginning, the story arch is really coming through. Brie and Hart, we’ve come a long way. I’ve realized in going…

First Draft. Done. It hath been accomplished. First draft. Done. 12,000 words in the past two days. 127,000 words total.
Talking To Myself I recently came across a quote by the late Terry Pratchett that has really given me perspective for writing:
The Prompt Continues
My good friend over at The Ship of Dreams came over for a coffee afternoon and we took the opportunity to work on writing prompts. Since she wasn’t able to attend our first W.A.F.F.L.E. meeting, she took the opportunity to write her own short story starter, which you can read here: I continued my original story, still not knowing exactly where I’m going, and developing the story further. You can…

Have you read “The Keeper”? Reviews are an incredibly valuable thing for an author; for me, even more valuable than the revenue.
The Fairy Bear Dress I will do a proper photoshoot of this dress on the dressform to show off all the little things, but I wore it to our theatre's Open House and I'm certainly in love with this one!

Blog Spot! ‘For a Thousand Words’ & ‘The Ship of Dreams’
First off, I’d like to share that two local author friends have launched their blogs; I was insistent that they should start them! The first is a published author, Valerie Cotnoir, whose first book was a Historical Fiction novel set on Prince Edward Island in the 1900 and is a fantastic, young adult novel set in a rarely explored time period and location for the genre. You can find her blog here:…

The Old Writer Who Lived in a Shoe I woke up early this morning because small children are in our home today and they deemed it time to be awake!
Simply Carva This is just a little plug for a wonderful tool I discovered today! It is a great, simple, FREE, online program that I used to create the new banner for my blog!
210 Downloads! Thank you, thank you!!! During the Free Book promotion, 210 copies of "The Keeper" were downloaded! Wowza! I'm astounded and blessed by the number and have been so thrilled to be receiving reviews, both personally via my Facebook page and on Amazon.
W.A.F.F.L.E.: The Adventure Begins
W.A.F.F.L.E.: The Adventure Begins
Last night we had our first Writer’s Guild Meet-Up, which was quickly renamed to W.A.F.F.L.E.: Writers’ Awesome Fancy-Fun Literary Evening! So now we can say “Are you going to W.A.F.F.L.E.?” or “I can’t come. I’m W.A.F.F.L.E.ing tonight.” We had five total in attendance, with several more not able to come due to scheduling, but we had a great time with out little group. (more…)
