Hey, love! I really loved those two fics you suggested recently. Can I ask what kind of fics you like to read / usually look for? And maybe suggest some older ones you've read and loved?
I'm glad you liked them! As for what I look for in fics, I'm interested in Robby and Jack from the show, so I'm looking for stories that capture the guys as they are, founded in what we have from canon. They can be transported to other settings/times, of course, so long as they're grounded in a deep understanding of them as people. Which great writers can do! I'm always a little in awe when they make it work.
You can find many stories I've enjoyed in my fic recs tag, although that tends to be limited to stories the writers linked to here on tumblr. As for older stories, I'm gonna call everything from 2025 "older" and include some recs below the cut. The following is just a selection, not meant to be comprehensive.

Ships in the Night (Meet in Safe Harbors) by @artigas. A staggering work of genius! Robby and Abbot through the years. What a story.

healing hands by @astronomical-light. Another post-S1 massage fic! Because Robby really needed a massage. Hell, I almost wrote one myself, but these folks had it covered.
you gotta lend a hand, wherever you can by @icemav86. Jack offers to do Robby's physical. It goes entirely to plan.
we could be looking for the same thing by deathconsciousness. Robby helps Jack raise Jack's (great!) teenage daughter. Amazing pining. This writer also has a fake dating* WIP that I still think about.
i've learned to count on you (as my own fingers) by @alasse9. Jack and Robby meet after covid. Five times they learn to count on each other. (I know this is #4 for alasse here, but she's incredible, I've admired her work for almost 20 years, just read everything she writes.)
I (53M) strategically arranged a delivery of concrete pavers to be placed around a colleague’s car and block them from leaving their parking space, AITA? by @astronomical-light. Exactly what it says on the tin, hilarious.
I come back to the place you are by @icemav86. Jack treats Robby in the aftermath of some rough sex; a sharp look at Robby.

V'ahavta by @oliviacirce. Beautiful Yom Kippur fic.
Like Brothers We Meet by @siriaeve. The start of her The Pitt/ER crossover series with Robby as John Carter's secret half-brother. (You don't need to know ER to read this!)
Hot racking by madeitsimple. Sharp piece about Jack struggling with PTSD.
First, Do No Harm (Too Late) by @rileyrabbit. Rabbot med students deciding to do something reckless (and sexy).
Let There Be Light by @siriaeve. Warm Hanukkah fic with great gifts.
G.I. Distress in Central Two by @sheafrotherdon. Robby gets himself the flu.
Arrhythmia by @wellhalesbells. A gay awakening fic that doesn't wrap everything up neatly.
The King and Lionheart by @siriaeve. A Princess Diaries AU!!! That is still canon-based. Brilliant and hilarious. Because when you deeply understand the characters, you can put them in any setting.
And it remains a WIP, but I still think about late dawns & early sunsets by @morphosyntactic. Robby gets turned into a vampire and Jack deals real well.

Mycroft awakens momentarily confused, his heart beating fast, to find himself tangled in the sheets of an unfamiliar bed. Then he smiles, calm returning, at the stripes of warm sunlight that spill across the room and the luxurious sheets of the bed he finds himself in. A breeze slips in through open French doors, carrying the scent of the nearby beach.
Then his heart skips a beat for a different reason as he is reminded why he is here, in a strange room in a strange land, yet not alone: Gregory.
From the en suite, Greg strides out, scratching at his silver head absently. The same sunlight falls over him, highlighting the lines of his nude form. Seeing him awake, Greg smiles radiantly and extends his hand, stepping closer to the bed.
Mycroft also reaches out, drawing him into the soft space beside him.
"I've waited a long time. Is it too soon?" he asks.
"Too soon to what?" Greg raises a curious brow.
“Say my name,” he whispers, shy but earnest.
Now lying beside him, Greg grins with soft indulgence. Left hands with matching bands intertwine, and the room seems to brighten.
Greg tenderly speaks his full name, emphasizing the newly added hyphenation, glimmering with the truth that this is the first morning of the first day of the rest of their lives together.
Summary: Dennis Whitaker has made it this far in life knowing when to push and when to let himself be pulled. Working with Dr Robinavitch at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Centre is no different. He doesn't mind if things fall slowly into place.

(2) I've once again shoehorned some dialogue from bbc sherlock into this, because I love suffering and it's fun— there's also a snippet of dialogue from a Pitt cast interview stuck in here, can you spot it?

This scene has always been very important to me, and now that I'm getting more sentimental with age, it constantly brings tears to my eyes. The fact that John couldn't tell the therapist about Mary's hallucination, but started talking to her in front of Sherlock, killed me, tore my heart out, and continues to do so with every rewatch.🙏
