Hi everyone! Thanks for your interest in this blog and for sending in your movie recommendations.
But after learning the news about Simon's involvement in HP yesterday I'm still grieving and processing and I'm not sure if I'll continue to make content for this ship or not. Even though I know M:I is a separate production - that's how hurt I feel.
This is no judgement or commentary on anyone who is still interested in this ship! I think that's valid and I hope I can rejoin you soon (still crossing my fingers Simon will see the online response and back out of the project somehow).
But for now, the Blockbuster event is on hold.
This blog will stay as is. I won't delete anything. Y'all are lovely and you're welcome to send me an ask on my main blog or discord under that username if you need to talk about this with someone.
Take care of yourselves ♡
UPDATE SEPT 27 2025: Queue is off and blog in hiatus
silly little extra thing to add to your drawing of Ethan being batshit crazy and meeting Benji out on the ice,
I feel like after about a minute Ethan would start hopping because his feet are literally freezing to the ice and Benji would probably have to carry him to the plane
I don't normally do this kind of thing but you made me wonder...
It was the wind that did him in, biting and abrasive as it whipped against Ethan’s bare skin. He might have stood a chance if the day had been calm and if he had run straight to the plane instead of stopping to meet Benji.
But he hadn’t.
He’d heard the plane arrive and suddenly Benji was all he could think about.
Ethan was on the cusp, walking a razor’s edge between sanity and madness, and he needed—
He couldn’t think about the other things— who he had lost, the horror of retrieving the podkova, the endless frozen darkness, the ticking clock, his imminent unraveling— His mind skated over these wounds before they could fell him, scrabbling like a spooked deer on a frozen pond.
There was no time for that now. But Ethan needed something to blunt the sharpness of that edge he was perched on. He needed someone— a specific someone.
Benji filled his heart with warmth and hope and reminded him why he was doing this.
For those we hold close, Ethan thought.
Though his smile was bright as he looked up somewhat dazedly at Benji, Ethan was waning fast in the biting cold.
Visibly shaking, Ethan transferred his weight from foot to foot, hopping from side to side in an absurd little dance, an attempt to avoid frostbite.
It had been a terrible idea to venture out of the decompression chamber without assistance or clothes for that matter. But what he had endured haunted him. A quiet desperation dug his fingers into Benji’s forearms, and he estimated the risk of freezing to death to be worth it if it put Benji in his grasp.
“You’ve got to get inside,” Benji said, glancing back over his shoulder at the plane. There was still quite a distance to go.
Ethan nodded like the good soldier he was, but he grew paler by the second, his movements small and stiff as the cold ravaged him.
“Let me help you,” Benji said as he tugged the blanket up around Ethan’s shoulders.
Stepping to his side, Benji slid an arm around Ethan’s back and another at the back of his thighs, then bent to heft him up into his arms.
“Benji,” Ethan gasped, his breath a puff of white. “I can— I can w-walk,” he stuttered, shivering uncontrollably.
But even as the words left his lips, Ethan knew he would never make it on his own.
“Well, this will be faster,” Benji said as he started towards the plane with Ethan cradled against his chest. Only mildly surprised that Benji could lift him, Ethan wrapped his arms around his broad shoulders to steady himself.
Unable to resist his warmth, Ethan pressed his face to his neck, his cold skin burning against Benji’s exquisite heat.
Exhaustion weighed down on him, crushing him from all sides like the pressure from his underwater grave, but he finally felt safe and it was this that allowed Ethan to let it all go. He stopped fighting, stopped trying to hold the center, if just for the moment. He let Benji take his weight, allowing himself to sink indulgently into his strength.
His sudden languor must have scared Benji for his grip immediately tightened around him and he said, “You reckless fool! I’ve got you. Don’t worry, I’ve got you.”
Ethan hummed in agreement.
I never had a doubt, he thought.
“My hero,” Ethan said and smiled big when he felt Benji’s skin flush.

(Degas jumped down from the entryway to help Benji lift Ethan into the plane while whistling, “Up Where We Belong.”
“Shut it,” Benji said, but Ethan huffed a laugh not embarrassed in the slightest as he was helped up and asked, “Aren’t you too young to know that reference?”
“I’m a hopeless romantic,” Degas explained.
“You are impertinent,” Benji said.
“And you are blushing,” Degas replied grinning.
Benji huddled with Ethan as he curled up on the floor, tucking the blanket fully around him, brushing Ethan’s hair back from his face, and waited there crouched in front of him, his hands now grasping Ethan's blanketed arms until Benji was satisfied that he could leave him to retrieve his clothes.
Paris watched what was unfolding between Benji and Ethan and decided to go with Donloe to help Grace and Tapeesa to the plane.
In case anyone missed it, this is a companion piece to this.
This is so self-indulgent 😅 but it was suggested to me and I just couldn't stop thinking about it. I had originally started writing this as a continuation of Benji's POV but I thought it could be nice counterpart from Ethan's perspective.
I might post the two drawings plus drabbles over on AO3. I don't normally write things this short but what the hell. It would be nice to keep all my writing in one place.

Summary:
“So… Ethan. You actually paid a terrorist 50 million dollars to let me go.”
Ethan bargained for Benji’s life. That led to some unexpected consequences.
Sometimes I wonder if Ethan gets a little more reckless around Benji (at the beginning) because while everyone else just looks at him like ‘what the fuck are you doing’ Benji looks at him all starry-eyed and amazed and that is a wonderful feeling to have. Even if Ethan is not sure he can do something now, he’ll do it for Benji.
And then Ethan dies doing something for Benji and Benji becomes aware Ethan has limits and can die.
And after that Benji gets so worried and Ethan kind of likes that too, because it makes him feel cared for. (Though benji does still have to tell him to do it, it’s nowhere near as lightheartedly as in RN)
But also after that - Benji starts to do more himself. Takes on more of the stunt driving - crashing the car into Delbruuck. Drives the boats. Apparently can fly an airplane by TFR (there’s no reason for Ethan to know degas can fly and anyway Degas wasn’t even supposed to be there)
I think part of that is Benji taking on as much as he can so Ethan doesn’t have to do it all. He can’t do the hanging off the airplane but if he can drive the car then Ethan can rest and recover and maybe his chances of getting himself killed while driving drop by 20%
Anyway. This all comes from me noticing how peaceful and calm Ethan always looks when Benji is driving the boat - which is a skill I didn’t realise Ethan has until I saw MI2 and realised Ethan can drive boats. It’s just now Benji can, Ethan always leaves it to Benji and rests.
And I think the boat thing and Benji driving thing helps Benji look after Ethan by giving him time to rest and recover. It’s Benji expressing his care for Ethan on the only way he can.
And it’s Ethan feeling safe and cared for, perhaps for the first time ever in the field. He can sit still and appreciate the city he is in, knowing he can currently place his life and the life of everyone he cares for in Benji’s hands safely and Benji will take care of him and everyone else.
And do course it all got taken to an extreme in TFR where Benji is, at the beginning, taking care of Luther and doing everything in London and then Ethan handing his team over to him and relying on him to get the information and find and revive Ethan.
I just feel for Ethan, Benji has turned from someone impressed by Ethan’s stunts into the ultimate place of safety, the one piece of equipment he can rely on, the only person he knows will come for him and save him and everyone he loves.
And Ethan loves him for that
Sorry - that all turned into a bit of an aimless ramble../
Benji has a problem.
Well, no. He used to have a problem. But it's well in hand now and he's got the EMT certification to back that up (under a false name, but still). So everything's fine. Really.
Until some bloody Alexa with a nuclear sticker on the top asks exactly the wrong questions, and suddenly all of Benji's meticulous, private plans are dragged out into the light.
Turns out, according to Ethan, Benji does have a problem.
And Ethan Hunt has never met a problem he hasn't thrown himself headfirst into solving.
ONE-SHOT, HERE AT THE AO3
(another Arc and @interropunct collab. EXPLICIT, WE SUGGEST YOU READ THE CONTENT WARNINGS.)
[...] Ethan steeled himself. “First,” he said, “I’d like to give you this.”
He then handed the knife to Benji, who slowly took it and looked at it from every angle, before his eyes set on Ethan again.
“Although I do appreciate this gift, you know cold weapons aren’t really my style,” he said lightly - but there wasn’t any trace of humor on his face. There hadn’t been for a while.
“I know,” Ethan replied. “But this knife isn’t simply a cold weapon. It’s much more than that, trust me.”
Ethan couldn’t say it yet. He wanted to, but he couldn’t.
Yes, it can draw blood and kill, but it can also save lives. It can cut a different path, a more peaceful one, with someone loved and deeply treasured.
Benji stared into his eyes, no doubt trying to decipher the unspoken words there, then asked quietly: “Why don’t you keep it, then?”
Gently, Ethan put his hands on Benji’s and closed it around the knife, before pushing it towards him.
“Because I want you to have it. It will probably be more useful to you, anyway.” If I don’t make it back. “Take it, Benji. Please.”
“Alright,” Benji said, reluctantly folding the knife before sliding it into one of his pockets. He then looked at him again, with a touch of wariness in his eyes. “There’s something else, isn’t there?”
Benji knew him so well - it should have been frightening, but it wasn’t. On the contrary.
Ethan nodded, feeling a sudden wave of sadness washing over him. “Yes. It's about Luther.” [...]
This chapter is long overdue (so sorry about that..!), but it has it all: Ethan giving Benji the knife, the forehead touch scene, a glimpse of Julia, words of comfort, and even Ethan's POV! I hope you enjoy!
Written for Benthan Week 2025's day 4 theme of: Ethan moves into Benji’s apartment to help with his or Benji’s recovery and never leaves which actually suits Benji just fine (accidentally on purpose living together)
Fandom: Mission Impossible
Relationship: Benji/Ethan
Summary:
Benji doesn't notice it at first, but the extra clothes in his wardrobe and coffee beans next to his teabags and sunglasses that are distinctly not his style are getting rather hard to ignore, stuffed into nooks he never even knew existed.
Not that he is complaining, though. It’s the first time in years that his house has actually felt like a home, with the aroma of whatever dish Ethan has decided to try out that week filling the air, permeating every corner of his flat that used to smell of takeout and expired milk.
Ethan feels something other than relief after finishing impossible tasks.
It might have something to do with the cute tech guy who believes in his capabilities (a little too much, probably).
Ethan has the talk with Donloe about how Ethan actually didn’t doom or destroy Donloe, but gave him a life of love and happiness and Donloe gives Ethan that heavily symbolic knife. We have a quick plane shot and the next bit is Benji stood at the front, explaining the plan and Ethan deeply in thought. He’s got that look on his face he gets when he’s going through his thoughts and rearranging things and reassessing things.
The shot is Benji on the background, tall and confident and Ethan sat, probably still holding Donloe’s knife, thinking hard after what Donloe said. Listening to Benji and having deep deep thoughts.
And the next shot of Ethan is him glancing at Grace and then almost without thinking staring up at Benji with that deeply intense look.
Donloe’s made him think.
Donloe’s made him realise he doesn’t always bring destruction and pain and trauma
Benji is right there, still beside him, strong and confident
Ethan is thinking hard about things, reassessing everything he thought he knew
Perhaps he hasn’t destroyed Benji’s life. Perhaps he won’t destroy Benji’s life. Perhaps he’s made Benji’s life better…

Summary:
After the events that almost led to the end of the world and the Entity, Ethan has trouble distinguishing what's real and what's not.
was it straight and normal when i was shot and bleeding out and yet i hid it from you and told you to go because i knew you would stop saving the literal world to make sure i was okay instead? was that very normal and heterosexual leading action man of us?
