I am not considering byler to be doomed because:
1. They're both alive.
2. They are left ambiguous - there was no rejection, no confirmation that Mike doesn't reciprocate.
3. Mike continues to be severely queer coded (whether it was on purpose or not doesn't matter) especially in regards to Will.
4. Their epilogue futures were imaginary and are not set in stone - Will doesn't have an epilogue boyfriend yet, and Mike has not turned into Ted Wheeler yet.
5. They are only 18 in the epilogue and have their whole lives ahead of them.
Taking everything above into account, genuinely what is stopping them from eventually getting together?? Mike and the others of course have every right to mourn El (even though she shouldn't have died in the first place), but they are also allowed to move on. If they both have feelings for each other, they have the time to figure it out!!
