Something else I would have liked to see more of throughout the series is Merlin just using his powers on instinct before he can stop it like when he saved Gaius from that fall.

It would’ve been cool to see Merlin struggling to contain all this power especially at the start of the series while he’s still learning to harness his magic:

Like maybe Arthur throws something at Merlin while half paying attention but Merlin’s magic stops it midflight and he has to quickly unfreeze and take the hit to avoid suspicion

Gwen asks Merlin to pass her the washing but it’s moving before he can even get his hands on it and Merlin has to scramble after it to grab the basket midair

Merlin’s carrying a meal up to the princes chambers and trips, his magic catching him and the tray of food and quickly righting them both, and Merlin glances around to see if anyone noticed

Gaius asks him to light a candle and suddenly every wick in the room is lit before he can even finish his sentence

It’s only after Gaius gives Merlin the spell book that he learns any kind of control, but even then, there would still be moments of panic or excitement that cause his magic to flare on instinct

Exactly what the title says...this is the short snippet of a Merlin x Lancelot fic I've been trying to finish for days now. Well I finally finished it last night!

Lancelot looked at his king. Gwaine sniffled across the table and Lancelot glanced his way to see the man run the palm of his hand over his eyes. While Leon and Elyan gave pitiful chuckles at Arthur’s words, Lancelot could not ignore the anger growing in his chest. Nobody had taken Merlin seriously when he was alive, but even in death Arthur could still find it in himself to insult him. Nobody treated Merlin like more than a lowly servant, but even in death was Merlin still a laughing stock. On less than a handful of occasions had Arthur called Merlin his friend, but even in death Merlin was still a fool.

I know the majority of us aren’t really fans of wattpad as a platform, but screenshotting a wattpad fic to post and mock an author is still an asshole behavior btw.

if it’s an asshole move when it’s done to an ao3 fic, it’s as much of an asshole move when it’s done to a wattpad fic or a fic from any platform.

like. I feel like mocking fics are so normalized on platforms like twitter and tiktok where algorithms and “going viral” are so important to so many users there for whatever reasons. but fanfic writers aren’t writing to please your personal liking or preferences. you read their works for free. if you don’t like what you’re reading, quietly click away from the fic. or one day writers will just stop sharing their works because entitled people can’t be decent and respectful to artists.
