I’ve literally never seen a fandom where the fanfiction is mostly straight ships but I’m watching the vampire diaries rn and when I checked ao3 every single one of the most popular relationship tags were hetero

#this isn’t like a bad thing obvi #I’m just genuinely so surprised #I’m still on the first season so my opinion might change #but I expected there to be much more Alaric x Damon #of the 2.5k+ fics that Alaric is in less than 1/4 are Alaric x Damon #I wasn’t even initially looking for ship stuff #I was curious about vampire!jeremy #of which there’s only 8 fics !!!#none of this is bad necessarily #just so different from the vibe of the usual fandoms I’m in #my post

Every once in a while I think about Will and I seethe. The fact that he is never referenced again after Moment of Truth? Absolutely criminal. Both the fact that Merlin is unable to openly mourn his best friend and the fact that as far as Arthur knows, a sorcerer who didn't even like him LITERALLY DIED FOR HIM and this NEVER CAME UP whenever he was contemplating whether magic is evil or not. Why did he never ask Merlin questions about his childhood friend with magic? For that matter, why didn't Morgana ask him after she found out she had magic and told Merlin? Why is this openly good sorcerer who was very dear to someone Arthur inherently trusts never ever relevant to the narrative again??? Why is Merlin's opinion on magic never questioned due to his close connection to a sorcerer? Why doesn't Merlin ever use Will as an excuse to know things about magic that he would have no legal explanation for otherwise??? WHY???

Thinking about how Will didn’t just save Merlin’s life once, he saved his life every time Merlin was a little too knowledgable about magic, or defended a Druid, or respected a sacred magical place, because it could all just be brushed off as Will’s influence
