Couple: SnowBaz (Simon Snow x Basilton Grimm Pitch)
Word Count: 1.163k
Genre: Fluff, a *liiittle* angst, SnowBaz (Boy x Boy)
Summary: Simon, Baz, and Penny stop at a hotel for a night on their road trip to America. When the hotel ends up being a little less clean then they anticipated, Simon lets Baz share a bed with him for the first time. And for the first time in months, they end up connecting and being affectionate for a bit.
On their trip to America, they had stopped at quite a few hotels trying to make it down to California. Many... but none like this one.
This one was beyond run down, and Baz wasn’t just thinking that because he was used to his nice, cozy flat back in England. Or because he had grown up in a mansion...
It smelled. It was dark. The walls looked... damp somehow.
Baz sighed as he finished brushing his teeth, staring in doom at either bed in the single room. Of course Penny had taken the one that looked a little less broken and overly used. And, of course, it was Baz’s turn to sleep on the floor.
“This hotel has seen better days,” Simon said, stare pinpointed on the leaking air conditioning unit on the other side of the room. He was leaning against the doorway to the bathroom, freshly clean and dressed in sleep clothes, towel thrown over his strong shoulders.
He looked damned good in anything, even stuck in this moldy looking room.
Penny rolled her eyes from her bed. “You two really should relax a little! It’s not like it’s infested with anything. The reviews were good enough.”
Baz raised an eyebrow at her. “Do people in America really have such low standards?”
Penny ignored him and instead just shifted more into her bed, ready for sleep. He glanced over at Simon to see if his little jab had lightened his mood a bit. Unfortunately, it hadn’t. He was looking lost in space again and was staring at the floor, still rooted in the same spot.
Baz looked away, frowning again, and sat on the bed that was supposed to be Simon’s.
Why can’t I make him smile at all anymore? It’s like he’s already broken up with me in his mind... Could he be waiting to break up with me?
He brushed off the thought quickly. He and Simon were practically made for one another, and he knew it. He had been obsessed with this man for years. There was no way in hell he was going to give him up even if he did try to end things.
He was just going through a lot. He could give him a little more leeway. Just for a little while.
“In light of things I think we really should share a bed tonight, Snow.”
“Wh-what?” His head shot up, finally shaken out of his trance. “Share a bed...” His eyes glanced over to Penny’s form in the other bed already half asleep and his cheeks grew lightly pink.
Baz couldn’t help the big smile spreading across his face. Snow is too damn cute.
“Relax, Snow. I didn’t mean anything like that. I know just as well as you do that Penny would kick us out, bare naked, into the night if we tried anything like that in the same room as her.”
His cheeks grew darker.
“I didn’t think that, okay?” Snow finally moved from the doorway and plopped onto the bed, the towel sliding off onto the floor. He didn’t bother to move it to the hamper the hotel provided. “Just go to bed. Sleep next to me if you want.”
“Yes, sir.” Baz smiled at the back of Snow’s head as he settled down into bed facing away from him. He knew Penny was already asleep when she didn’t chime in on their conversation. It had been a long day for all of them.
Before turning off the lights Baz took in Snow’s lanky form sprawled out next to him. They may be going through a lot of issues lately, but nobody could blame him for still checking Simon out whenever he got the chance. He was irrevocably in love with such a hottie.
He settled down into the thin mattress, feeling every spring and board underneath him. He fell asleep debating on if he should at least try to hold Simon’s hand, or if that would just upset him even more.
...
And he woke up feeling a shift on the other side of the mattress. His groggy mind didn’t have time to process what was happening before he could feel Simon’s arm snake around his torso.
“Baz...” he sleppily muttered. “I’m sorry.” Baz only stiffened for a moment as Simon nuzzled his face into the back of Baz’s hair. “I love you.”
He hardly knew what to do with the affection. It had been a while, and even when it used to happen, it was usually more snogging and less... comforting. He could feel the stress and worry he’d been feeling being pulled away from him and away, like Simon’s touch was a magnet repelling the negatives.
“Snow...are you awake or asleep?” He had to be sure. He needed to know Snow wasn’t dreaming about someone else and not realizing he was snuggling the hell out of Baz.
“Oh...” Simon squeezed Baz lightly, “I thought you were asleep. I... I couldn’t fall asleep with you next to me. I just-” he cured up into Baz then, throwing his leg over his hip. “I felt like I needed... I just needed you. Your touch. If just only for a little while.”
Baz was fully awake now of course, blushing like a god damned mad man. He still wasn’t fully sure Simon was awake. He could just be responding in his sleep. He heard that people did that. Just talked in their sleep and woke up to not remember anything.
Just in case, he stood completely and utterly still, unsure if he should even reply.
“Baz?” Simon whispered in his ear, softly enough that he could barely hear him. “I can move back to my side if this makes you uncomfortable.”
“No, no.” He said the first ‘no’ a little too loudly but quickly corrected himself. He reached up to squeeze Simon’s arm and pulled it closer to him. Happiness bubbled up into his chest, and he had to try hard to stop his little giddy giggle forming there. “I like this. I just wasn’t sure if you were really awake or not.”
Simon sighed softly into Baz’s hair. “I know that I haven’t exactly been affectionate lately, but I-”
“Simon...” He knew he had to call him Simon then, because he knew Snow liked it when he called him by his first name. He wanted to say it, to make him feel more at ease. “If you move away from me now I’ll have to roll over to your side and never let you go.”
Baz could have sworn he felt a smile form on Simon’s lips pressed against the back of his head.
“Okay... just for tonight.”
“No. This is just one night of many, Simon.” He leaned back into Simon, who didn’t respond to him. “Oh, and I love you too, you insufferable goof.”
Simon still didn’t respond, but he did squeeze his hand lightly.
Baby steps... We’ll get there Simon. One day at a time, for the rest of time.This is just the first night of forever that I’ll love you. And from now on I’ll make sure you realize that.
I was originally going to use this blog for non-fandom fics, but I recently read Carry On by Rainbow Rowell, and I fell in love with the characters. Beyond love, I really connected with the characters more than I have with any other book in a really long time.
So, now, I am taking requests for any kind of writings involving Simon, Baz, Penny, Agatha, etc. It could be character x reader, character x character, headcanons, whatever you want!
“Oh...” she looked down at her weapon briefly then glanced back up at you before brushing past you. “Those are nothing. Not important. Have a good day, kid!”
She brushed past you quickly enough that you barely saw the blur of her movements, and before you could respond, she was behind you. You whipped around as quickly as you could, though your movements felt weak in comparison to the speed this... person... had just displayed.
“Okay, what are you then?” You tried taking her features in, scanning for anything unusual, but you found nothing. By any count she looked like any other human. Minus the crown and sword... “You don’t exactly see many people anywhere in the world casually flaunting jewels and unusual weaponry like you are.”
She didn’t look at you, and you weren’t exactly sure what she was doing. She squatted down and put her free hand flat against the earth. “That,” she finally said, “was a very rude question, kid.”
“We look the same age, but you call me kid. That’s suspicious, just like the rest of you.”
Silence was her response as she shifted into a sprinters position, only slightly thrown off by her attempts of keeping the flame of her sword off of the browning grass underneath her. All you could do was stare at her. You fixated on her ears, her hair, her build, anything that could give you a signal to what otherworldly creature she was.
“If you keep staring at me, I will have to use this sword on you, kid.” Your eyes snapped to hers looking directly at you. You were lost in thought again and were oblivious that she had been staring back at you now. “Do me a favor...”
Your “uhh...” was more of a question than a response, “sure?”
“Blink.”
“Blink?” You were suddenly overly aware of eyes, trying not to blink before you thought her request through. What if she stabbed you the moment your eyes closed?
“You can’t stare at me forever, kid. So, yeah. Just shorten my wait time. Blink.” With the last word she stood up with blinding speed and took half a step towards you.
You couldn’t help it, your body just reacted by flinching backwards, closing your eyes in the process. And when you opened your eyes, she was gone.
What the hell was she? Your whole body was tense as you scanned the area closely. Will she attack, or did she just want to escape my notice?
Little did you know she was just above you, barely out of your line of sight, smiling down at you.
Prompt: You rolled your eyes again at your neighbor's questioning your sanity. "Yes, I know the house I just moved into is haunted. I'm doing my best to have a good relationship with them and consider them my roommates... They just contribute a lot less to the house than living roommates would."

“I’m getting really sick and tired of these interruptions, Jeffery.” you took a slow, deep breath as the doorbell rang again, trying your best to ignore it.
Jeffery shrugged, not looking up from his book. “Maybe if you’re quiet they will think you aren’t home and they’ll go away.” Glancing up at the door he said, “Feels like…” he squinted in concentration, “Tina… from down the street. The one with the badly cut and dyed mullet that walks her cat with the wrong kind of leash.”
You took an even slower breath. Great… More ‘well intention’ warnings. Or, maybe, just plain curiosity this time.
Every day more of your neighbors dared to come and introduce themselves to you. You understood that most people were afraid of the house because of what had happened to the people who had lived in it before you, but the abundant warnings and stares people gave you were starting to wear thin on your patience.
The doorbell gave a sharp ring again. “Damn it, Jeffery,” you huffed, sick of being disturbed. “You should have been quieter. She must have heard you.”
Jeffery rolled his eyes at you. “Uh-huh. Because that’s definitely possible for anyone else but you.” He still had just as much of an attitude as he did when he was still alive. Well, from what he told you about his life before he did at least.
But regardless, he stood up when you did, ready to follow you for moral support when you answered the door.
He may not be able to be seen or actually heard by anyone other than you but he was still a good friend. Had been ever since you had brought him home from the playground as a child. When your mom agreed to let your ‘imaginary friend’ come home with you, she hadn’t known it was actually a real ghost you were inviting into her home.
“Hello? May I ask who is there before opening the door?” Hand on the door handle you looked out of the peephole, seeing Jeffery had been right. It was in fact Tina from down the street, the one you had both seen faux-casually strolling by your house ten times a day.
Seems she had finally got the guts to come investigate us.
“O-oh, hi!” She stammered. “My name is Tina, I live down the street from you. I brought you cookies to welcome you to the neighborhood!”
Glancing back to your dining room table you looked disinterestedly at all the other plates of cookies you had from your new neighbors sitting there, untouched. There must have been a dozen plates there. There was no way you would be able to eat all off those before they went bad, and Jeffery nor your new roommates could exactly help you with that issue either.
“Thank you, but no thanks. I’m not really in the mood for guests right now. No offense.” You paused, body tensing slightly, as you hoped she took the brush off and just left you alone.
“But I feel like I should warn you about something…” She wasn’t giving up. “W-with the house, I mean. Things happened before you moved in, bad things, and the past owners tried to warn us, they did. But we wouldn’t listen…” Your forehead fell against the door in exasperation as she continued, “I-I think the house, this house you live in, is haunted!“
You rolled your eyes again at your neighbor questioning your sanity.
"Yes, I know the house I just moved into is haunted. I'm doing my best to have a good relationship with them and consider them my roommates... They just contribute a lot less to the house than living roommates would."
“Rude!” Jeffery said behind you, but you continued on regardless.
“I know you’re just trying to warn me Tina, but I’ve gotten this warning a dozen other times and it’s starting to wear me down. I know what I got myself into, and I’m looking forward to living with these spirits.” You shrugged despite the door blocking Tina’s view. “Besides, the spirits aren’t bad. The people were the bad ones, you know? They made the spirits do bad things from all the negative energy they put out while living here.”
Silence…
“Tina? Did I scare you away?”
Looking through the peephole again, you saw nothing but empty space.
Finally. You thought, turning and walking straight through Jeffery who had been hovering far too close to you.
“Rude again!” Jeffery grunted as you made your way back to the comfort of your living room. “You know, you’re good with spirits, but we really need to work on your people skills if you ever want any living friends.”
“And why would I want that?” You plopped back down on your sofa and picked up the remote to turn the TV on.
Jeffery, still standing in the same spot, did his best impression of a sigh.
You looked back at him. “Hey, for someone who’s been dead for so long, you really do have a good imitation of a sigh. For someone who doesn’t need to breathe, I mean.”
Finally making his way back into the living room to join you in your Netflix binge-a-thon, Jeffery sat/hovered down over the spot next to you on the couch. “I learned from the best. Now, play the next episode already. I may have the rest of eternity, but you certainly don’t.”
