"the education system traumatizes students it deems stupid" and "the education system traumatizes students it deems gifted" are two concepts that can and should coexist.
the education system traumatizes nearly every student and this is a feature, not a bug

Once again, thank you everyone for reading, enjoying, and sharing this comic. Â Not just sharing in the sense of re-posting this comic, (which you should totally do) but also sharing your stories with me, letting my know how my comics have touched you. Â It means so much to me. Â Love ya! Stay tuned for more comics! <3
It gives me tremendous joy to see people still reading this comic, and especially when they get something out of it.
Over the years I have faced many ups and downs, just like everyone else. Sometimes it really gets to me how mean people can be to each other. How mean I can be to myself. But for all the Level 1 Trans Fighters out there please know with acceptance, mindfulness, and self compassion I did in fact find my balance. Not a fast process. Basically a complete lifestyle change. Sometimes I lose that balance, sure. But when I choose to present my authentic identity? Iâm objectively drop dead gorgeous. Here are a hand full of my looks. Youâll notice none of them are 100% masculine or feminine. Peace be with you. Thank you for reading. Thank you for being you. -J
You deserve to feel comfortable, so donât push yourself to go at a faster pace. Itâll hurt you more.
Reblogging both for stellar comic and wonderful mustache
always reblog! I love this comic, so very much. *offers all the kudos* Thank you for this, it continues to help a lot. You look amazing in those lipstick shades, by the way.
Iâve always loved this comic. Even though I didnât go one thing at a time, it was definitely a process of baby steps for me too. Incremental progress, but still progress.

WHICH IS WHICH
Most confusing post, but the one on the right is a Baobao.
Being poor is just a series of emergencies.
Emergencies really do crop up more often for poor people. Necessities, like vacuum cleaners or phones or bedding or shoes, need replacement or repair more often when you only buy the cheapest possible option.
Poor peopleâs health tends to be compromised by cheap, unhealthy food; stress; being around lots of similarly-poor contagious sick people who canât afford to stay home or get treatment; inadequate healthcare; and often, hazardous and/or demanding work conditions.
So we get sick more. On top of that, many people are poor specifically because of disability. All of that is expensive - even if you just allow your health to deteriorate, eventually you canât work, which is - say it with me - expensive.
When youâre poor, even the cheapest (most temporary) solution for an emergency often breaks the bank. Unexpected expenses can be devastating. People who arenât poor donât realize that an urgent expense of thirty dollars can mean not eating for a week. Poor people who try to save find our savings slipping away as emergency after emergency happens.
I donât think people whoâve never been poor realise what itâs like. Itâs not that weâre terrible at budgeting, itâs that even the most perfect budget breaks under the weight of the basic maths: we do not have enough resources.
Cos weâre fucking poor.
People who arenât poor also have different ideas of what an emergency constitutes. The AC breaking in the middle of summer isnât an emergency when itâs in the budget to just go buy a new one the same afternoon without worrying about how itâll affect your grocery money; having to take two days off from work because youâre running a bad fever isnât an emergency when you have paid sick leave.
So itâs no wonder the well off people of the world donât get it when a low income person is stressed over something breaking or a minor illness. I know people for whom a crashed car - as long as no one was hurt - would just be âdamn it I liked that car and now I gotta borrow my wifeâsâ and I know people for whom it would be âI canât afford to have this fixed but I canât get to work if I donât get it fixed and I canât get it fixed if I donât go to work hahhaha time to indebt myself to family members who I desperately wish I didnât even have to interact with because theyâre the only ones who can give me rides or loan me money.â
Two very different worlds.
