This is my main blog. I am 21 y/o. he/they/any. Mi lengua primera es Inglés estadounidense. Hablo Español también pero leo y escribo mejor que puedo hablar y oír, desafortunadamente. Lo trabajo en esto.
I reblog a lot of art and posts related to architecture and costume design. I have a strong interest in human/environment relationships, ecology, solarpunk, and all that jazz. Aside from that, I'll make sporadic personal posts, gay shit, crafts, and what have you.
fandom stuff is tagged by ip. my posts are tagged with #he speaks. postes en Español están etiquetado en Español, #él habla, etc. y mis pronombres son él y elle.
Fandoms you will likely encounter here include Resident Evil (mainly Biohazard & Village), The Addams Family (incl. Wednesday), Community (six seasons and a movie!), and who knows what else. I'm a big nerd about sitcoms for some reason.
My favorite band is the mountain goats. My music interests kinda varied, from classical, jazz, folk to hardcore, post-punk, new wave, chiptune, and "angry girl music of the indie rock persuasion."
Look below the cut for sideblogs, tag system, and stamp credits.

"Stop scrolling and please help me spread the word, because if I've landed on your page you're most likely either a black woman or someone who cares about black women and the simple phrase I'm about to share could help save a black woman's life.
Doctors are to black women what police officers are to black men. That may seem controversial but I believe it to be true and I speak from personal experience.
If you've seen this TikTok you know that a 2016 study showed that 50% of medical students and residents thought that black people couldn't feel pain the same as white people.
And we learned from this video that because of a 1999 study, to this day, there's a black correction factor for the creatinin levels in black people's kidneys, meaning we're less likely to recieve a kidney transplant if needed.
So if you go to a doctor, feel you aren't getting proper treatment or they refuse the treatment you've requested, say to them the following:
I will need you to document on record that you are refusing the treatment (or medicine) I've requested, and the reason you are doing so."
This works. I have used it in other situations. If medical staff have to document and take responsibility and be on the hook legally for doing shady shit they behave much differently.
If you weren’t already going to spread this advice because black women are at risk, then spread it because it’s applicable to everyone else as well, including you reading this.
But particularly women, and especially black women.
Nothing has done quite so much damage to my internal vocabulary as the construction #MyNoun. I don't remember if it was from that "tour of my jar, this is my twig #MyTwig" or if it was from "inappropriate attachment to objects, my tuube #MyTuube" but either way it was one of you fuckers on here. I do it every time there's my noun #MyNoun
playing a car game, aiming for some mindless fun. not vibing too much with it until ☝️ i have discovered two things 1. you can just go wherever tf you want, no need to race 2. there is a radio station that plays classical music
there are two female Pholcus phalangioides cohabiting the same web in our bathroom. they've been there for about a week. this is baffling because they are definitively not social. they typically eat whatever ends up in the same web, including other P. phalangioides. the extent of their association is mating (where the male is often eaten afterwards), and a nine-day period where the mother watches newly hatched spiderlings. there are no spiderlings. one of them might be gravid but they're too distant for me to be able to say that with any kind of likelihood, it's just a possibility bc her opisthosoma is a little bit bigger. (you can tell the difference between the two bc one of them is missing a leg + has the larger opisthosoma.)
there's no way they aren't aware of each other. these spiders sense by vibration, you can't share a web with a pholcid and have them just not know about it, and they routinely swap positions in the web (ms. missing leg is often on the opposite side of ms. 8 legs that she was when last observed).
obviously i'm not mad about this, it's fascinating behavior and i feel so privileged to get to see it, but i have absolutely zero explanation for it. in my investigation so far i haven't been able to find any documented association between pholcids that isn't mating or motherhood or cannibalism. they're sedentary web hunters, they can't afford to share a capture web with another conspecific, and there are almost no flying insects in our bathroom (their web is in the corner of the ceiling out in the open, which is also kind of unusual for pholcids, they tend to prefer going below overhangs, and i suspect they'd actually have more success with a web on the floor bc we Do get crawlers like millipedes and carpet beetle larvae pretty frequently, but also we keep the bathroom dark 100% of the time even when in use bc of my photosensitivity so perhaps they've been tricked into thinking this is more secure than it is based on the light levels?), so i have no idea how they're getting enough prey for the both of them. surely they can't be sharing?? i haven't actually seen them capture anything in this web so far but obviously it's possible i've missed something, i only watch them when i'm in the bathroom.
i can't help but think eventually one of them is going to eat the other, which will be sad for me personally because i've grown quite fond of them but i do want at least one of them to live. and i just can't imagine they're getting much prey. should we try to capture a fly or something and tenderly feed it to them. well, 2 flies, i guess. i don't think pholcids would make ideal pets just bc they're relatively skittish and not very visual compared to salticids. but i do love them both and i want them to eat well.
i think i'm going to have to take some better photos and maybe send some of my observations to some arachnologists, i'm like did we misidentify them? i have no idea what else would have the pholcid body plan lol it's pretty obvious (cosmopolitan cellar spider/"daddy longlegs"). or is there some explanation i haven't considered? i just can't emphasize enough that these are so solitary that they will eat each other if one sees another, which is not an uncommon behavior for spiders (especially sedentary web hunters, for prey access reasons) but some others will have some kind of associative behavior documented Somewhere. these do not!!! they don't have enough body mass to be able to afford that kind of competition! what is going ON
cohabitation is still occurring. if you even care. veritable yuri situation. ms. missing leg actually got hold of prey about two days ago (!!!) (so cool to watch her eat, i had never seen it so up close before!) (looked like maybe an ant but she'd already taken some very big bites out of it so hard to say) and ms 8 legs was just sitting there patiently watching her. in the same web!!! now ms missing leg has a comically large opisthosoma while she digests. a bit like right after a snake gets a dinner of dodent.
ms 8 legs is still very skinny. i fear she hasn't had a meal in a while bc she's been skinny the whole time i've seen her. she's also attempting active hunting throughout the bathroom which pholcids (and other web hunters) usually don't do unless they're very hungry. i don't know why this is the case when she could just eat ms missing leg... surely it must be love? or some kind of judgment call based on their relative strength, they are araneophagous (even invading other webs to eat their owners!) so they definitely have the cognitive skills to make that call, but idk why ms missing leg would not simply eat the weaker pholcid! strongly considering bringing ms 8 legs some food by hand because i feel so bad for her and her stick-thin opisthosoma... she's so small! i don't know how long she can go without prey... looks like at least a week but many sedentary spiders can go much longer, it's just so odd to leave their web at all that i'm quite concerned given the frequency of the behavior, i have no idea how long it's been since her last meal
here is a lower quality picture from a couple days ago as proof of their relationship. they are so elegant, i love watching them move. the rotary probing in particular is really beautiful (lifting the long front legs above the silk, making little looping movements, coming to rest again when they hit a thread). their movement and exploration as tactile creatures is very familiar to me as a tactile creature myself
Rating WI Gubernatorial Candidates (As of when I first drafted this back in November)
WARNING: The author is incredibly biased in favor of Francesca Hong and is mortal enemies with one Thomas P. Tiffany.
(All quotes are copied directly from article linked below)
Toxic Tom
"U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, who is seen as the frontrunner on the GOP side, was not present."
Ah...Tom Tiffany. Truly the deadbeat dad of Wisconsin politicians.
(-∞/10)
Josh Shoemann
"Schoemann, meanwhile, said he was concerned about how AI could be a threat to the state’s workforce. He noted that Washington County has studied the potential impacts of AI, finding that many jobs could be automated using AI in the next 15 years or so."
Huh...I agree with him...
"Schoemann said "affordability" is the greatest threat and expressed concerns about young people and retirees leaving the state to live elsewhere."
A Republican who actually understands the economic issues facing their constituents? Maybe this guy isn't so bad after all!
"He said the state should work to deregulate industry and lower utility rates and cut taxes to address the threat."
Nevermind...
"He said Washington County was able to make progress using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding, though he didn’t necessarily support the funding."
tldr; County Executive doesn't support the existence of the funding that improved his county's internet access.
(2/10; and that's probably more than he deserves. Please don't make this man Governor)
David Crowley, Kelda Roys, and Missy Hughes
"'There’s an opportunity for us to really become AI and a data hub not only for the entire country, but for the entire globe and really sets us apart in making sure that we continue to invest in businesses and companies here,' Crowley said."
Ew...
"Roys said that 'data centers are coming whether people like it or not'"
Also ew...
"'Trying to regulate it at this moment could potentially hold back some of the benefits that we might see from it. I think that we need to continue to watch it,' Hughes said."
Triple ew! Please stop making me agree with the Republican!
(4/10 for all of them, and that's being generous)
The Queen Herself
"'Legalize weed.'"
Have I mentioned I love Francesca Hong?
"'The revenue that comes in [from legalizing weed] will be able to invest in fiber optic and high-speed internet in many different companies across the state,' Hong said."
You mean if we elect her we could get weed, better internet, and stick it to the prison industrial complex? I can't wait for August, take me to the poles now!
"'We have to make sure that people have food, and so, I think working with an administration that has no interest in your constituents is going to be incredibly difficult to be able to ensure that there is an economy that works for everyone,' Hong said."
"I'm gonna struggle working with a President who doesn't care about my constituents" should be everyone's answer.
(100/10; my soul needs her to win)
Sara Rodriguez
"'Gov. Pritzker thanks us all the time for the amount of tax Wisconsin [consumers pay],' Rodriguez said."
Not gonna lie, this was really funny, and not just because my dad had just pointed out that every state surrounding Wisconsin already has legal marijuana, so having it banned here really is just driving revenue to other states.
(7/10; a passing grade)
Kelda Roys again
"'I’m all for legalizing weed, and abortion for that matter,' Roys said."
Please Note: Abortion is already legal in Wisconsin.
(Still 4/10)
Please read this article yourself and do further research on the candidates and their platforms. Never take anything at face value and always interrogate what deeper message could be behind a piece of media.
Candidates are competing to replace Democratic Gov. Tony Evers, who won’t seek reelection, in the first open governor’s race in 15 years.
According to fox entertainment this is who we should be afraid of. I didn't know who Francesca Hong was 10 minutes ago but thankfully now I'm aware of this monster and her monsterous policies
OK I keep seeing people refer to the Michigan parasite outbreak and then others will chime in “it’s in my state too!” so to clarify this for everyone it is a NATIONWIDE outbreak reported in 31 US states as of today, July 12th 2026. There is no reason to assume it is not present in the rest of them
NBC News’ tally shows at least 26 states have reported cases of the parasitic stomach illness, as health authorities race to find the source
The CDC is tracking cases but they are significantly lagging behind the states on numbers (their data is weeks behind) so it’s probably going to be most effective to check your individual state’s infectious disease tracking.
This is a parasite that usually causes about 3000 cases of illness per year in the USA, Michigan currently has reported about 2900 (the confusion about “Michigan outbreak” is because Michigan is the first that caught an uptick in cases and has been very proactive about trying to trace them). Last official update from Massachusetts was 18 cases here centered in Greater Boston. The CDC recommends NOT assuming there are no sources of the parasite in your state even if no cases have been reported.
It isn’t an unknown illness but it is an unusual quantity of cases, and the fact that they haven’t been able to pin down the source after weeks of tracking is what makes it particularly concerning this year (harder to contain).
Wash your hands, wash your produce, cook it ideally, and advocate for farm workers to have access to safe and hygienic toilet facilities
that last part is extra important. nearly every one of these produce outbreaks are because of poor hygenic practices on the fields, and particularly, because field workers do not have adequate access to bathrooms. nobody wants to poison your food, but they often don't have a choice.
they also often lack proper access to water, cooling equipment (such as sun hats and portable fans), and management; this can make it significantly harder to think clearly and make a wise decision, let alone survive the day.
when this comes up in conversation, call this out. make sure everyone around you KNOWS that the reason the lettuce is constantly unsafe is because farms are not giving a shit about worker welfare, and the people growing and picking your lettuce have to walk ungodly distances in 100+ degree weather without water just to take a shit. oh, and if they DO choose to do that, they may be punished for taking an unscheduled break.
if you wanna go further, let everyone know that the majority of labor laws have an exception carved out for agricultural workers.
Republicans on Capitol Hill are starting to talk about one facet of immigration reform: how to expand the popular H-2A visa program for farm
Worth keeping up with developments in the fight over farm workers’ visas because while trying to get legal documents for workers, agricultural producers are also trying to fight for those legal documents to have fewer human rights provisions in them
i do think we should normalise being like. platonically enamoured with someone. perhaps i love and admire you dearly and there's nothing romantic about it
