He isn't even technically the main character AND!! He's the ONLY character to technically appear in EVERY SINGLE novel and short story. (By which I mean. He doesn't have a direct role in As Yet Unsent, but he IS attached to his bones and there IS a point made of Cam carrying them and fighting people to keep them. He's technically there lmao. And every other work he plays a significant role, with even his very brief appearance in HtN being a huge turning point.)
He also dies in every single book. I love him so much.

How literally did John base Alecto's body on Barbie? A big complaint about Barbie dolls is how disproportionate they actually are. If Barbie's head is scaled up to that of a normal human, she's like 7 feet tall, an H cup, and has a waist that wouldn't support her being able to stand. And we know that Alecto is insanely tall. I'm wondering if when she said "you've made me a hideousness" she isn't mad strictly about being in a human form. She's mad that it isn't a human form. When Nona draws the frog, she talks about how she talks about how it would move. The functionality is inextricable from it being a good design. A Barbie made real would not function. If Alecto is dealing with those sort of proportions, it's only her endless regeneration that keeps her going. In contrast, even Harrow's sickly, fucked up body is an actual, functioning human body. Hence why Alecto might find it so much more beautiful and a comparative relief to exist in.

Presenting, the Complete Locked Tomb Timeline
Because I am a horrible nerd, I’ve compiled a complete timeline of every known event in the locked tomb trilogy so far. This is roughly divided into three parts:
Ancient History - this section is mostly based on the scraps of history we hear from the lyctors in HtN. The events are inferred from pieces or occasionally reconstructed by process of elimination.
Tragic Backstories - this section is based on what we learn about the backstories of the present day characters. The Cohort intelligence files in the GtN appendix were invaluable for getting the dates here.
Present Day - this section is a recounting of the events of the books put back in order and carefully placed on a timeline.
Please note that this contains SPOILERS FOR EVERYTHING including bonus content like The Mysterious Study of Dr. Sex.
