Quick question, when did the ghouls get scary?

Also why?

Nihils ghouls just hanging out with a beer, waiting for a mate. Primo and Secondos Ghouls? Horrifying. Terzo? A lil less scary but no doubt they is scary. Even Copia’s Ghouls, unhinged (Swiss) unsettling (I’m looking at you bug 👀) and aggressively stompy.

Is it to do with the Summonings? Like does the papa or cardinal at the time, have an influence regarding the ghouls personality/attitude? Idk, I have questions

new headcanon: none of the ghouls can actually talk, so it’s a surprise when Rain actually says something because he just… figured it out.

Yes, love that. I raise you:

The ghouls speak Infernal to each other and it comes across as such a low frequency white noise/hum to everyone else in the clergy that they just assume it’s regular “ah the chapel settling” etc.

I mean, they definitely crank it up a notch if they’re up to mischief and fancy scaring the crap out of unsuspecting siblings… Swiss 👀

But they can communicate, with clergy members but it is mainly just with their Papa, with body language and just general vibes.

Even so Rain is always consider the quiet one amongst the ghouls and clergy. He doesn’t mind, if he has something to say he’ll say it but he is always listening. And this is how he learns the ability to “speak” so that the humans can understand him.
