Finally a hand sewing tutorial on a hemline that isn't just the ladder stitch! the ladder stitch disappears when you tighten it, but it's not meant for hemlines because it breaks really easily! The overlock stitch is more stable, so it holds much longer, and it won't pucker or warp the fabric!
has anyone else noticed that pretty much everyone who is worth knowing seems to be doing really bad all of the time and is never allowed a moment's respite from all the pointless cruelties and horrors ❓❓❓❓❓❓❓
Please read this because it is EXTREMELY important me (a transgender man) and to other trans individuals.
The US Government is currently trying to pass an incredibly dangerous national law for trans youth called HR 2616.
This bill would ban all Federally funded schools from teaching about gender identity or sexual orientation, prevent teachers from using the correct pronouns and names for trans students, remove books with any trans representation in them, and even go as far as to prevent teachers from acknowledging trans identity AT ALL.
Any school that does not follow this will lose all federal funding. This bill would also require teachers to forcibly out trans students to their families, which would be fatal to any trans student with a transphobic Family or just hateful family in general. Trans people are already a group that already has some of the highest rates of being victim to suicide, domestic violence, and sexual assault.
This bill actively makes teachers put those innocent children at such a big risk. This bill has rapidly passed the house this week with support from all 209 republicans, as well as 8 democrats. But, it's still being voted on in the senate, which means there is still time to help stop this.
To help stop this, you can visit 5calls.org (look up 2616 in the search bar), one of the most top issues filed Oppose Attacks on LGBTQ+ Students. Once you put in your general location, it will pull-up contact information for your senator, and give you a script for calling them.
If you are a minor and/or do not feel comfortable doing this, PLEASE repost this on here, or any other platform you are on/can find! This needs to be heard and fought against.
“ice water makes you sick” “ice water gives you stomach cramps” i’m sorry if i have a hardy and oxlike american constitution but unless you have underlying health issues, the only water temperature that should cause adverse health effects is if you chug a gallon of boiling hot water that has also been laced with nefarious chemicals
I fear many of us are forgetting that trans men belong to Men (the gender) but not Men (the sociopolitical class) and I think thats an important distinction
Sociopolitical classes are the result of what is called "social stratification", which divides people into categories of "social worth" based on factors like sex assignment, gender presentation and identity, wealth, skin colour, physical and intellectual ability, country or culture of origin, religion, etc.
Those in the highest sociopolitical standing would be cis het monogamous men who are white, physically and mentally non-disabled, neurotypical, wealthy, and not immigrants. There are other factors, but this is essentially the top of the food chain.
The hierarchy isn't a single vertical ladder, but more like a pyramid. The more of these factors differ from the societal ideal, the lower in the pyramid you are placed. And your place in this pyramid determines your access to things like education, jobs, social programs, and also determines how authority figures that govern the system categorize you and treat you. ie black men are perceived as more dangerous and violent than white men, despite there being little to no empirical evidence for this.
So sociopolitical class Men is reserved for cisgender men, and transgender men are seen as trying to "claim" power the system deems them unentitled to. Not only do trans men not get access to this class, they are often further punished for trying to claim masculinity, particularly because queer masculinity is not accepted as "true masculinity" by the system. The argument that trans men receive privelege for identifying as men ignores this fact. Trans men are only afforded the sociopolitical class of men when they are assumed to be cis (which requires access to a full regimen of transition tools like Testosterone and surgery), which ignores and erases their identity as trans.
It also for the most part to excludes men of colour, disabled men, cis men who are gender-nonconforming, and men who otherwise do not fit into the patriarchal standard of cisgender masculinity. Even a man who fits the patriarchal ideal but rejects toxic masculinity and male superiority can be ejected from the dominant social class for non-conformity.

There are currently THREE FEDERAL BOOK BAN BILLS aiming to ban all TRANS BOOKS from U.S. public schools! HR 2616, HR 8705, HR 7661
June 2026 / Maia Kobabe (a trans author, for three years in a row the most challenged author in the U.S.)

HR 2616 threatens to cut federal funding from public schools if they “teach or advance concepts related to gender ideology,” as defined by an Executive Order signed by Trump in Jan 2025. It would also cut funding from schools unless they require “parental consent before changing a minor's gender markers, pronouns, or preferred name on any school form.” HR 2616 HAS ALREADY PASSED IN THE HOUSE! Please call your Senators to say NO ON HR 2616!
Page 3:
HR 8705 threatens to cut federal funding from public schools which teach “discriminatory equity ideology or gender ideology,” as defined by two Executive Orders aimed at suppressing “critical race theory” and trans representation. This bill is named after the late far-right activist Charlie Kirk, “The Charlie Act.” HR 8705 has passed out of committee, but has not yet been introduced in the House. Please call your House Reps to say NO ON HR 8705!

HR 7661 threatens to cut federal funding from public schools which offer material deemed “sexually oriented," treating any LGBTQIA+ identity as sexual content. It specifically forbids “gender dysphoria or transgenderism,” and “lascivious dancing” (drag). This bill, titled “Stop the Sexualization of Children Act,” has 22 co-sponsors and has passed out of committee but has not yet been introduced to the House. Please call your House Reps to say NO ON HR 7661!

Author Maia Kobabe: If HR 2616, HR 8705, or HR 7661 pass, it would be almost impossible for any public school in the U.S. to offer or teach my books, unless they’re willing to risk their federal funding. Students would be even less likely to learn about trans stories or accurate U.S. history.

"crochet can't be made by machines" went from being a cool fun fact to being a call to action of "so if you see mass manufactured crochet in Target, that was made by a person and they were underpaid and you should boycott it" which is true, it was made by a person, but EVERY item of clothing you own (that you did not purchase from a company using ethical labor) was made by a person being underpaid (at *best*.)
Sewing machines are operated by *people*. Knitting machines are operated by *people*. Yes lots of the process is automated but you cannot tell a machine "make me a t-shirt" or "make me a knit cardigan".
Higher awareness of fast fashion, and the true human labor and abuse behind it, is GREAT, but let's not pretend that the crochet hat in target is THE problem. Every article of clothing in target is the problem. "All clothes are made by people" is the jumping off point here into understanding this issue it's not just crochet it's the whole thing ahhhhHHHHHHHHHH
i love when people on the internet get denied stuff and you find the most innovative minds of the generation dedicated to making goddamn sure other people get what they want come hell or high water
Okay but I get this. All of you worms who have things blocked on your wifi or whatever and have IbisPaint this is how you do it
Open IbisPaint go to a canvas (any canvas, or make. a new one)
Select the font tool (if you don’t know what or where that is, press the tool icon (normally a paint brush or eraser) and press the T button
From there you should be able to create a text box (writing is not important…). Find the font button and add a new font. I can’t remember what it’s called but you’ll know when you see it
It’ll automatically search for you “free fonts.” Do not follow this. Your app is misdirecting you. Instead search up whatever it is you’re looking for in the search bar, and that should work
Knowledge should not be trapped behind bars, bend and break them until you can grasp it
dick makes people mentally ill. dick havers, dick wannabes and dick lovers are all insane. it's like toxoplasmosis, you have compulsive need to defend and push and worship dicks all the time and spead your dick mania to everywhere you go.
this seems rational and grounded in empirical evidence
A strange genie appears and has an offer for you. You’ll be cured of all, you’ll have a stable job you’re happy with, and you’ll basically just live the best life you can imagine. However, there’s a catch—you’ll have to relive one specific grade level from middle or high school (the genie is American).
I haven't seen yet anyone comparing Obsession (2026) to The Substance (2024). Both movies terrified the shit out of me and made me walk from the cinema in silence as I felt like I was unable to move on from what I just experienced. And there are so many similarities between them! Lemme show you:
1. As a feminist activist they both moved me so deep is party because they both focus on the topic of misogyny and women suffering that comes from the simple fact that they're women and therefore they're preyed upon by men (in case of Substance it was all these nasty old trump-like men seeing women as nothing more than sexual objects they can monetize without moving own finger. On the other hand, in Obsession it is this Bear loser, who thinks he's better than all the predatory men cause he's a nice, awkward guy, but in reality he's the worst type of entitled piece of shit who doesn't blink an eye abusing Nikki as long as she's not freaking out. These both films phenomenally take these traumatic experiences of womanhood (body-dysmorphia self hatred vs. your friend that you trust torturing you to fulfill his desires) and make the viewer feel how terrifying these are. You keep relating and feeling sorry for the female protagonists, as you see parts of your own stories in theirs.
(offtopic but I need to mention that the song that plays in Obsession during the car scene Sarah talking to Bear and before he brick enters the picture is the same song that played when my predator boyfriend and I kisiel for the first time. Yeah, I though I'm gonna pull out my hair as I heard the Kids song playing :^)))
Anyway,
2. The motif of two entities in one body, fighting each other. The original identity struggles to survive as the second one spirals and gets more desperate to destroy the original one. There are corresponding themes of self-harm which I find really fascinating.
3. Both Bear and Elizabeth are so miserable and messed-up mentally, that they're unable to let go of the thing that is actively killing them. Bear knows that Nikkis affection is illusion and real, pre-wish Nikki is suffering trying to her conciousness back, but he still, when he called the help line, doesn't say he wants to cancel the wish. He asks to *alter* it. Nikki is having nightmare crash outs multiple times a day and yet he's so entilted and pathetic that he still prefers that to Nikki pre-wish that simply wasn't interested in him.
4. THE SOUND DESIGN
I don't even need to elaborate. In case of Obsession it was impossible to forsee when the sudden change from silence to uncanny freaking noise will happen. I was trying to find the pattern to it so I wouldn't shit myself everytime it happens and yet, every fucking time it took me by surprise. Pre-wish Nikki screaming to the phone when Bear called the line, Nikki's absolutelly weird sounds when Best tells her she can't go for the boys nights at Ian's. Ahh love it.
In the case of Substance I loved this characteristic, werid sound that played every tike something deranged was going to happen or happening already.
5. The overall weirdness
It's definitely more visible in Obsession, starting in the very first scene of Bear preparing for "the reveal of his feelins towards Nikki" with this random waitress. When I realised it was just a strange worker to him I thought "who the fuck does this". Then there is dialouge with Nikki just after Bear made his wish and she keeps behaving in such an uncanny disurbing way. She says this double "yeah" when encouring him to go to her house, mixing so many different emotions in specific expressions. We, for the first time see pre-wish Nikki fighting the new Nikki. The whole playing Jenga scece, the way Nikki moves (the walking backwards scene made SOOO scared or the corner of the bedroom scene....), the way she tries to figure out the social norms. In Substance there are all this hyper-sexual scenes of Sue doing excercices, posing vulgarly to photos, looking basically like a porn star. The angles, the focus on people eating or eating while speaking that makes them act of consulting food look so reprehensable and nasty. The way nobody even pretended it was all about extreme male-gaze and extreme sexualization of human body. The way Sue talked to the journalist on the talk-show, the way she smiles when she lost her teeth ugh....so good....
Awkwardness and overall weridness work so good in horrors films. It makes you feel so lost and confused not knowing who's worth your trust.
