Rhaenyra should’ve delivered Otto’s head to Alicent’s prison cell in a chamber pot
sometimes when I think bout the Mad King I wonder how he made it this far, like, Jaime really didn't rush this kingslaying after all.
andd then I remind myself Trump's like ten times worse and he was fucking elected for this role of a president. twice. Xd
Hotd finale become what always ment to be.
I watched the second episode of S3 or what supposedly would be the last episode of S2. And I have so many things to talk about it. But initially as general thoughts, this episode may win as the worst episode of the show yet.
Hotd in te past was used a lot in the past of soup opera gimmicks to move the story. But this episode takes the crown for it. A lot of things happens because they need to happen so the story can unfold in that way. And it permeant all the plots in different degrees. One worse than others.
And I think is more evident than anything in the two major action sequences of this episode that end up being MCU slop levels of convenience and plot armour.
So let me get this straight.
When Aemond asks Helaena to fight with him in 2x08, he is cruel, dangerous, abusive, power-hungry, etc.
But when Jace asks Baela to fight with him in 3x01, it is brave, romantic, tragic and beautiful?
Helaena has a dragon. Dreamfyre is not some tiny hatchling that bonded with her yesterday. She is an adult dragon, and Helaena has been her rider for years.
So why is one scene framed as Aemond being monstrous, while the other is framed as Jace being heroic?
I don't get it. 🤔
"THAT'S MY MAYOR!" I say about Oscar Tully. Who is a kid. In a feudal society. But he's running the Riverlands well and good and won't take shit from anyone, not even Daemon, on principle. So THAT'S MY MAYOR OSCAR TULLY, he has an anthem called "Fish Feed".
Hotd writers workbook each season:
-Sexually humiliate team green for shock value by inventing non-f&b scenes.
-Turn a civil war into a psychosexual lesbian story between one bad (victim) woman who needs to be constantly punished and one good (victim) woman who is constantly restrained by her gender.
-Glaze girlbossified victim rhaenyra, her feminist sex-trafficker advisor and to an extent her pdf daddy husband (ironically even GRRM was not up their bottoms as much as ryan condal and his writers are).
-Humble alicent through SA by framing her as constant victim of her own side to 1) justify her supporting rhaenyra over her kids 2) for #them to go > she deserves it for daring to support her son against queen rhaenyra, the greens are SO horrible, this is what inventing patriarchy does!
-For the gazillionth time, show how immoral criston cole is.
-Repeatedly depict all of tg as deviant evil misogynists and all tb as goody two shoes feminists by adding more non-book scenes, nuance be damned.
-Milk daenerys and asoiaf prophecy as reserved quota.
-Give most tg screentime to alicent who isnt even tg anymore but another rhaenyra stan.
-Add plagiarized dialogues to show how simultaneously girlbossy and victimised all hotd women are, particularly rhaenyra.
-Allude how every medieval woman against rhaenyra MUST be a pick-me hypocrite woman for trump and every woman for rhaenyra is the most perfect badass feminist ever lived, there is no inbetween.
-Only and only rhaenyra is allowed to love, cry, feel for her children in this show.
-Bare minimum characterization for the velaryons. Their portion of tb screentime is given to rhaenyra, daemon and mysaria.
-Make the greens weaker, more divided and pitiful for #their gratuitous gooning.
-Remove all f&b nuance that GRRM wrote and reiterated in his blog to turn the story of the entire dance into tb best, tg worst propaganda for fave self-inserts.
*Best Show Ever!*
About stupid chickens and the Iron Throne
After watching episode 2 of "House of the Dragon" (which we call "The Dragon's Madhouse"), I felt a mixture of laughter and shame, contemplating what the writers had done with the two main characters – Rhaenyra and Alicent. Alicent, simply disregarding her party and her family, embodied the adage "There's no worse enemy than a dumb ally" with her actions. Moreover, the Green Party's successes are pure coincidence, chance, or someone's stupid mistake. And at the end, arriving in the throne room and seeing her father with a very short haircut, she looks surprised and confused. I immediately have a question, with a reference to Taras Bulba: "So, Alicenta, did your friend help you?" What did you expect, dumbass in a dress? That Rhaenyra would come and kiss everyone's ass? The Master of Laws also "delighted" me. Apparently, the stress of the siege made the man think with his penis instead of his head. Fucking hell, let's say you raped Alicent—so what? How did you, the son of a sheep, expect to live here any longer? You're a complete idiot.
Rhaenira herself says, "I'm tough, I have a strong spirit," but when that damned schemer Otto Hightower stands before her, she bursts into tears and dances.
I watched and said, "Hello, you crowned fool, you're at war here, and you're the guilty party. What the hell are you crying about?"
And in the end, she ascends the throne with an expression like, "I didn't mean to!"
Ugh, disgraceful.
I was thinking about how its so interesting the way mens vs womens assaults/abuses are dealt with on the show
Like Ulf's little piece of backstory about getting groomed and abused by the essos man, obviously very bad but he talks about it he shows hes upset and we feel bad.
Whereas we're watching Alicent (and other women) get sexually harassed and abused openly on our screens with very little afterthought or dealing with how she feels about it other than very brief reactions.
Idk its almost like the screenwriters know showing a man getting sexually abused onscreen would make people uncomfortable.
if you ever feel like justifing hotd writers HORRENDOUS characterization of Rhaenyra having mental breakdown over Otto's beheading then imagine grown-up Sansa having the same mental breakdown over Little Finger's or Cersei's beheading. It's absolutely tragic, ridiculous and NASTY what these writers did in the last episode.
changing an existing story ab misogyny and femicide into this is crazy. yes let’s make alicent get sexually assaulted for no reason xx
this show is so rank for sexually humiliating alicent like this. strip her of her ambitions from f&b and use her as a tool for the writers’ sick fantasies
condal and hess need to pay for their crimes
This may be a controversial opinion, but those who continue to defend Rhaenyra being passive and Alicent being assaulted as "historically accurate" really don't know history at all.
Read up on the Anarchy sometime. The wikipedia page is very detailed.
Stop defending slop because you want your ship. Enjoy the show for what it is, it is a very entertaining show. But calling some of these writing choices "historically accurate" is complete baloney.
In hotd if you don't fight for your character or have great ideas, your story's gonna be bland as fuck. I can't believe this scene would've been Aegon just standing around instead of providing insight into his state of mind.
Yeah, he also said it was HIS idea NOT to make Aegon kneel and declare loyalty to Rhaenyra in the first episode, how ridiculous this is? Also, right now he's the only character still bothered by Jaeherys' slaughter!!! And it's only cause Tom is pushing for it :^)) How could they do this to this character......
the only reason they murdered otto was because of everything that he did. i’m fucking SICK we must overthrow the system of corruption that silences evil viziers !
They can kill you now just because you deserved to die it is so fucked what we are coming to
I wish We could have seen Baela with a different hairstyle and looking more like a princess + both she and Jace wearing nicer clothes 😭
Honestly, not to be completely salty about it, but I found the way that Rhaenyra was sniveling and wailing when leading an invading army to be declared an absolute monarch last night singularly pathetic in a way that almost all of the women of GoT would find deeply embarrassing. There's a time to lose your shit and that is not the time. The fact that Rhaenyra couldn't make it through it without having a meltdown just indicates how deeply immature and incompetent she is.
Gawd, I miss women who weren't afraid to wield power and took their responsibilities seriously. House of the Dragon seems to confuse emotional incontinence and weakness with femininity, and I honestly want nothing to do with that worldview.
At least we still have Alys, whose mission in life is to fuck over Targaryen men. I support you in all your endeavors, sweet sister.
I do like Criston just immediately abandoning all hope after seeing 1 (one) dragon battle. My man was like this is way above my pay grade and checked out of westerosi chivalry forever
honestly he's is so me with one week of this summer of ultimate climate collapse xD I used to think I might make it to 40 yo a month ago, but now I'm viewing 25 like a challenge 💀 I've seen enough, kill me already and just do it quick. It's too late to believe in hope still, for me at least :^)
What could've been.
