how to bug netflix 101

a few ideas/tips to put pressure on netflix to reconsider their decision, given the fact that a select few shows have had their fates reconsidered:

Keep Shadow and Bone & Six of Crows trending! Character names, 'No Mourners, No Funerals', Leigh Bardugo, and other key words might help too! And remember that the threshold to keep stuff trending gets higher the longer that words/phrases trend, meaning we have to keep it active!

Spam the Netflix title request form at https://help.netflix.com/en/titlerequest

with Shadow and Bone, Six of Crows, etc. At the very least, it'll inconvenience them.

Sign the petition at https://www.change.org/p/save-shadow-and-bone-a3b37712-c648-4b87-9bfc-8b8cd685c623

Fill their social medias with calls to renew. Again, at the very least it'll be annoying/inconvenient, but at least our voices will be heard.

If you feel so motivated, you can submit anonymous tips to publications and ask them to pick up the story (though there is no guarantee this will work). IGN, the Hollywood Reporter, Variety, and Deadline all accept anonymous tips without having to register or provide personal information.

UPDATE (16 Nov.) Send emails to the following people and let them know (respectfully) that we're unhappy with their decision and that they will be losing money as a result!

earlier amy and I were discussing both real life hockey player sergei fedorov's baffling decision to leave an extremely successful team in favor of a far shittier one, and also this fabulous post:

and just thinking like. when ilya signs with ottawa, there will be plenty of speculation and conspiracy theories proposed to explain why the fuck he would ever do such a stupid thing. ilya is asked about it whenever a reporter comes within 50 feet of him. he is also hassled by every fan who recognizes him at the airport or in a bar. and I think he responds to this by giving a different bullshit answer every single time.

if he wasn't the main character of hockey twitter before, he is now, and of course one of his answers is the real one - that he moved to ottawa to be closer to shane. this means that when they eventually get outed, the running gag becomes posting clips of his other stupid answers and being like holy shit. can you guys believe ilya rozanov is ACTUALLY a russian spy who's working for the treasury board of canada in exchange for maple candies??

before they're out though, the other gag is making increasingly unhinged thirst posts about shane, all of which include captions/tags about how ilya is uncancelled, free my man he did nothing wrong, if he'd signed to a peewee team on the moon because that's where his man was he would have been right, etc. etc. and THEN people start posting photos of themselves in remote or bizarre locations like hey guys. I live here in this abandoned apartment complex in belarus. to be closer to my gay lover shane hollander <3

this gives ilya's gay lover shane hollander several dozen heart attacks at first but ends up being fantastic cover, because now they can start occasionally posting their own photos together whenever they happen to be in A Location, and everyone thinks they're just going along with the bit

even after they're outed, shane is making very normal posts about where he is and what he's doing, thanking whichever sponsor or whatever. and then ilya is posting something from the same location like hi guys. I'm here at wimbledon. to be closer to my gay lover shane hollander <3

meanwhile the city of ottawa is on their official twitter like may we remind you all that we are not the middle of nowhere or a weird place to be. we are not antarctica, an isolated yurt in mongolia, or the international space station. we are literally the capital city of canada

The Centaurs' social media team post one of those "guess the real couple" videos (as a joke, because their captain and alternate captain are very publicly married). There's a series of clips of various players being physically and verbally affectionate with eachother. Then it ends on Shane and Ilya, finishing a one on one drill and then hurling insults at eachother across the ice as they argue about who won. It cuts off as Ilya drops his gloves and starts skating over at top speed.

(It breaks containment and people who know nothing about hockey comment with concerns about a hostile work environment, possible discrimination, crossing boundaries. Shane ends up posting the full video, which ends in him grinning as Ilya pushes him into the boards to kiss him. He captions it "since rookie year". Ilya comments "summer before".)

Heated Rivalry AU where the relationship reveal happens because David Hollander's phone gets hacked and approximately 5,000 pictures and videos of Shane and Ilya being cute (both together and individually) get dumped onto the internet.

No accusations can be made about them throwing games for each other, because there are several videos of them being super competitive about absolutely nothing. For example, one of the dumped files is a video of the two playing Monopoly (filmed discretely from a hallway). They look about ready to murder each other. And then, off-screen, Yuna's voice - in a Mom Voice TM, of course - calls, "Boys, you better not be doing what I think you are!"

Ilya says, "Nyet, Mama," at the same time Shane says "No, Mom!" And in perfect sync they hide evidence of the game, not a single movement between them wasted.

There's also a video of them trash talking each other for being slow as they race to put away the most clean dishes from the dishwasher.

It's a whole genre. Play-fighting as they bring out a measuring tape to literally measure who shoveled the most snow from the driveway, bringing up hockey stats as they argue over who deserves to hold the tv remote, etc.

And, of course, Ilya isn't upset at David for the whole incident. Ilya is crying, though, because it's clear from looking through the photos how much David absolutely loves Ilya. It's so apparent through the captured moments how much David adores his second son.
