A wedding should NEVER occur before noon. It shouldn’t be too late either. You want to get married at 1-3 pm so everyone starts drinking early and is so drunk they are hauled home at a reasonable hour.
I love how Zohran Mamdani is wearing a suit everywhere. And if he has anything else he puts it ON TOP of the suit. A basketball jersey. A high-vis vest. All worn over the suit. He’s like the mayor character in a cartoon who’s always dressed as The Mayor. If I didn’t know who he was and he biked past me in NYC I’d be like holy shit was that the mayor

Local white boy shocks everyone by effortlessly breaking the world record for "the most incorrect attempt to use a taser."
I think one of the funniest abortion stances I've heard was from my parents neighbor. He's a like, hard-core libertarian viking larper guy who is very tall and very fat and very bald.
He believes a fetus is human with a soul, but also its "basically attacking the woman's body" so if she wants to get rid of it, that's "basically self-defense". He compared it to shooting a home invader. So he supports abortion not as healthcare, but as killing a baby in self-defense
Y'know I'm so glad someone reminded me of this. Because this was also discussed.
My stepmother did NOT like the way her Libertarian Viking Neighbor framed pregnancy as the fetus "attacking the woman". She incredulously told him this was extremely disrespectful to expectant mothers to portray pregnancy as so violent and negative.
Libertarian Viking Neighbor's response was that people consensually hurt each other all the time, and "there's like a whole community about that, with the acronym the one that starts with a B" And his reasoning was that if the mother was consenting to bring attacked by the baby, it in fact wasn't violent and negative because there was consent.
He brought up people consensually hurting each other, didn't go for one of the obvious answers like boxing or body mods or something, no he went STRAIGHT TO BDSM and he DIDN'T EVEN REMEMBER THE ACRONYM
When someone is going to have a baby and they’re like “I’m hoping for a girl.” I’m like ‘Aw, cute.’ but when someone says they hope it is a boy, my hackles raise and I’m like ‘Hmm. Elaborate on that. What is the reasoning behind that?’ Like, I think baby gender reveal culture is a bit silly but I understand it is mostly in good fun. Until someone gets mad they’re not having a son to ‘carry on the family name’ or whatever. That is frankly disgusting. But is is really interesting how people who want a daughter will be like ‘I hope it is a baby girl so I can dress her in these cute pink baby outfits.’ and people who want a son often want a son for reasons that are extremely misogynistic and dehumanizing.
btw it's so fucking stupid you can be anxious physically in your body even after you've decided mentally you don't care. I'm supposed to be in charge here

I don't even know whose job it was to teach people this, but did they just stop teaching people what a bicycle bell means?
One would think that hearing a very distinct, clearly audible, reasonably loud and rapidly approaching sound of any kind would make any reasonable mammal turn to look at the direction of the sound, just purely by instinct?? If a deer heard something nearby go DING DING DING DING DING DING at its general direction, it would at least look up to see whether the source of the sound is a threat or not? Just a quick "is that something I need to be concerned about?" type of glance.
The enshittification of pedestrians has reached the point where they have less traffic survival skills than deer.
i know this is going to sound like an ad (it's not) but, hardcover.app exists, and it's a gazillion times better than goodreads, plus it's not backed by a huge corporation! if you use goodreads just try it out, you'll see what i mean.
(for my koreader fellas, there is a plugin for it, with autosync too)

For those who have missed it, a tourist in Hawaii decided it would be fun to chuck a rock (a BIG rock) at a monk seal. He missed, but he was captured on video, and when told it was illegal to interfere with them, said "I'm rich, I can pay the fine."
Is the best part that he got doxxed? No.
Is the best part that he got tracked down by a local and beaten? No.
Arrested on state at federal charges, looking at up to 5 years and 50K? Nope.
The best part is the local city council's reaction.
And the best part of that is the look on the attorney's face.

I don't know where or when i saw this but telling claude to check the time after each prompt was a WONDERFUL idea. I'll send a follow-up and it'll be like "why the fuck did this take you 22 minutes to think?"
