I wander aimlessly on the streets of some foreign town as it drizzles. The hems of my pants soaked in dirty water, my feet swollen and cold from walking in puddles for far too long. I no longer know which street I'm passing by, only the fact that I'm walking towards something. I momentarily close my eyes as I cross the traffic infested road, hoping, praying that some stray vehicle hits me and ends this here. But it doesn't. And I walk.

When venturing into the world of arts and literature, one always has to have a back up plan unlike our brethrens in science. Despite us being the bane of society and being around for centuries, our choice of professions are still devalued and undermined.

Thinking about the time I was on my way home and I met this homeless man on the pedestrian bridge I cross every night. I saw him praying so passionately, with his hands up, eyes closed, rocking back and forth immersed in his prayer. I couldn't help but ask him about what he was praying for. His response was,

"I'm praying for the people who are crossing this bridge, that they get home safely."

And I- I was speechless. This man was homeless, his situation itself was worrisome but here he was, still devoted to God, still praying for complete strangers. I just wanted everyone to know about him :)

I love how the US government bombs Muslim countries and then sends scholarships to their children to show everyone how benevolent they are.

Yesterday, at my uni, I attended the orientation of a 6 month English Language program only to find out that it was funded by the US embassy. You can imagine my disgust as a Muslim student studying at a Muslim university. How dare they have the audacity to come in here? And you know what the worst part is? I knew I was sitting in a room filled with students and teachers that would scramble at the chance of going to the US despite posting stories about "Free P4lestine." Do you have no Muslim pride? No humanity? Do we as a country lack such resources that you would rather study from programs funded by blood money? I'm aware that these kinds of chances are rare where you can study for free from qualified people, our country is still developing but that doesn't mean that we go to these genocidal governments for help. We have our own culture, language and civilization, why must we glorify these white men and their ways? Do the beheaded babies mean nothing to you? Why are your protests only limited to your stories? Why can't you boycott these programs? We are living in a dystopian reality, I feel as though this world has gone insane or maybe the world is sane and I have grown mad.
