When reading fanfic keep in mind that for professional literature:
Short story: under 7,500
Novelette: between 7,500 and 17,500
Novella: between 17,500 and 40,000
Novel: over 40,000
Fics over 40k are literally a novel written and shared for free. If you have written a 40k+ fic, you have literally written a novel.
Yep. In addition, chapters in published novels are generally around 3,000 words in length.
Fanfic writers go hard.
does anyone have morrowind tool fan image
thank u so fucking much
I know some fic writers get stressed about writing tropes they think are too popular or overdone, and I need you all to know that I just spent 4 hours reading every iteration of the same exact fic plot I could find, and they all brought me an indescribable amount of joy. Listen. Listen. Sometimes you want cakes of many flavours and sometimes you want Nine Carrot Cakes

you’d think that telling people to expand their music tastes would be pretty cut and dry but then you tell someone to listen to jazz and they call you eurocentric
you’d think that telling people to expand their music tastes would be pretty cut and dry but then you tell someone to listen to jazz and they act like you're trying to mind control them
this too shall pass but the fuck was that for
Actually, my therapist has told me this is a healthy way of processing things. Because you can get the trauma out of your head And you can write the ending you wish it had. The trusted person rescue, the catharsis of getting to kill the one who hurt you.
It's good for your brain. It's healthier than bottling it up. Fiction is where we go for emotional release. That can be true with trauma too.
so what you're saying is
character: NO
therapist: YES
Adding @dear-massacre's tags because they are so true:
#this is why it's important to remember that fictional characters are fake #they have no agency. they're made up #it hurts no one to make any character go through the horrors #it is healthy and cathartic
yeah okay ill reblog that
Been playing a lot of Oblivion lately. I appreciate that these argonians can be colorful, instead of Skyrim's muddy-lookin lizards.
“knowing how to write effective AI prompts will be a valuable skill in the future” and what if I skip all that and write the email myself in under 30 seconds drawing from my very own biological database of language and rhetoric (my brain)?
if you fall from grace enough times eventually you’ll get really good at sticking the landing
