Let's do a weird headcanon thing

1. What they smell like: Olive oil, or grit and grime if away from civilization from too long. 2. How they sleep (sleeping position, schedule, etc): Straight, on his side. Minimal movement. 3. What music they enjoy: Anything violent, combatative. Something to raise morale.. 4. How much time they spend getting ready every morning: Half an hour, most of which is spent donning armor. 5. Their favorite thing to collect: War trophies. 6. Left or right-handed: Right. 7. Religion (if any): Pantheon of the Horrorterrors. 8. Favorite sport: Falconry. 9. Favorite touristy thing to do when traveling: What touristy thing?. 10. Favorite kind of weather: Overcast weather means he's able to actually go outside.. 11. A weird/obscure fear they have: Flying insects. 12. The carnival/arcade game they always win without fail: The hammer game.

Sounds like a significantly more sta8le system than Earth has. I mean, as far as the “guiding the lower” thing. On this planet people of higher classes see the lower as filth more than anything. I mean, that’s not exclusively true, 8ut in a lot of cases it is. Hell, even middle class people look down on the lower pretty often.

So instead of “give to the lower”, it’s “don’t look at them or they might talk to you”.

Oh, don't get me vvrong. A plebeian citizen has only marginally more rights than a noncitizen -- and not much, if any room to rise through the ranks via property ovvnership. It's not a perfect system -- and I must admit, corruption is far too common in the Senate, but at the very least, it does the job better than the harsh lines of tyranny vve've had before.

It's a complicated topic, and the source of many a case of strife betvveen Corvisian and Covisian.

You guys have a caste system 8ased on colors, right? That’s really odd to me. I’ve never encountered something like that.

Human castes are 8ased on money in the modern day and 8loodlines in the past, 8ut even then it was never a particularly structured system. Fairly easy to pose as someone you weren’t, or marry into a higher caste. Of course, there were also some families who were considered “untoucha8le” regardless of if you were wealthy or not. Mine could 8e considered one of those.

Shrugging.

It stands as such, really. Higher castes live longer -- exponentially so -- and have more time to build up money, influence, the like. Their legacy is passed on to their descendant, and the cycle begins anevv. A greater lifespan also means greater skill and competence as vvell as a greater potential to bring honor and prestige to your bloodline.

Naturally, vve of the higher bloods rose up to guide those of the lovver.

I don’t know what any of that means, to 8e completely honest with you. Corvisian patricians? Repu8lic, captain of Legionnaires? I mean, sounds all well and good.

VVell, the Battle of Povis seems as good a time as any to start. The VII Legion had been routed, my cohort left to die and cover the retreat. VVe vvere surrounded on all sides -- at this point, even the rear -- by vvhat can only be called raging barbarians.

It vvas at this point that I commanded an advance right into the very heart of the enemy army. It vvas brutal. There vvas a point in the battle that the blood soaked so much into the ground that it became a rainbovv-colored field of mud and muck.

But -- vvith minimal losses, vvhich is the amazing part -- vve broke through to the heart of the horde: their general. I challenged him to a duel, and, the rest, as can be said, is history. I emerged victorious, and his ravenous hordes? VVell, they fell apart like a house of cards.

I'm fairly young for my caste (though there are already those plebs and slaves that die of old age by the time they have reached mine.). I am a member of the Corvisian patrician class, and serve the Republic as a captain of the Legionnaires.

I suppose I like vvwarfare, if anything. That and Senate politics. Sadly, I can't enjoy both at the same time. You could call it a conflict of interests if I did.

Well, my most recent station was mainly garrison duty in Hyperbornea. While we did see some combat, it vvas entirely one-sided.
