i think it’s hilarious and genuinely fascinating how there are such contradicting perceptions of Taylor Swift and her brand, her music, her relationships, etc. because what do you mean that the same album can get reactions like “Taylor Swift is racist and wants to be a tradwife” and “Taylor Swift is brainwashing young girls into being radical misandrists” ?? and the album in question is about being rich and successful whilst pursuing personal happiness/love/domesticity. it’s not really trying to send a message but rather tell a story i think, of the life of a showgirl on tour. i mean, that’s why it’s called The Life of a Showgirl. just really funny to me the extremes that people think up and how opposite they can be depending on who’s talking.

#taylor swift is a Rorschach test at this point #people will project onto her whatever their unconscious biases and fears dictate #it’s frustrating but no amount of evidence will stop people from seeing what they want to see

Okay I am from California and my coworker is from Florida and he insists our ocean water is absurdly cold and I think he's just being a pansy who's used to Caribbean waters. So help me settle this.

About what temp do you expect ocean water to be, when swimming at the beach?

Frigid. Freezing. Unswimmably cold.

Pretty cold but manageable for short periods if you're moving a lot

Like public pool temperature. Not warm but not COLD cold.

I'm asking mainly about like, when you imagine going to the beach, how do you imagine the water? Bonus points if you have been swimming in both CA and FL and can chime in on that debate.

#lived in socal all my life and didn’t find out until a few years ago that beach water isn’t always so cold #still never been to a beach on the east coast and I cannot imagine being able to just like hang out and swim at the beach #like no you must be lying #that’s a freezing death trap #main reason to go to the beach is it’s the only place that’s not 115 degrees in the summer

i hate this fucking "i'm just a girl" brand of feminism bc it is so easy for young women in their 20s who are afraid of big changes and personal growth to revert to depending on their gender and the associated fragility of it so that they can make it through life when really they're just trapping themselves in a position where they cannot and will not grow out of that fear.

#sure but can we not act like this is the fault of young women and acknowledge that they’re doing their best to get by in a system that was #designed to stunt their growth.#they’re not trapping themselves. they’ve been trapped by patriarchy. It really bums me out when we act like women just need to #do the right kind of feminism and that’s how we’ll achieve equality #when these are cultural responses to misogyny that may not be the peak of self actualization but that’s not the fault of young women
