This made me so fucking angry I have to inflict it on all of you.
what’s the punchline here
wait
As someone who isn't a furry but has very much grown up around furry art I kinda forget that it's shocking to some people. It's kinda just what a bunch of queer art looks like. That anthro dragon girl might as well be my coworker, what's your fucking problem?
yknow, as counterintuitive as it may seem, helping a suicidal friend isn't a matter of stopping them from dying. it's about helping to make their world one that's worth living in.
it's important to make that distinction, lest we make people's quality of life worse in the name of "protecting" them.
flowery should've had a voice clip where he goes "Wing Dings Gaster!" and it gets used exactly once on a line of dialogue completely irrelevant to gaster and nobody acknowledges it and it never gets brought up again
outing myself as the worlds first shuttah fan
we as a society have GOT to accept that it is okay if we get blocked. you do not have the right to interact with every single person on the internet. "but then i can't interact with their content" yes that is the point "but i didn't do anything" no one owes you an explanation and you don't have to have "done something" to be blocked. let it go
I know we make jokes about the proverbial asexual pervert who has written hundreds of thousands of words of smut on ao3, but also shoutout to the aces who aren’t perverts. to the aces who skip the sex scenes and wince at sex jokes and awkwardly leave the conversation when your friends start talking about sex. your boundaries aren’t childish and fuck anyone who says otherwise.
relational trauma has to be healed relationally. the best way to practice having relatively "safe" interactions with ppl is joining a hobby group/club/whatever. I've recently joined like ten Fancy Leather Bag groups on fb out of deep curiosity and interest and the communities ppl will build around literally everything I swear to god. I've seen multiple ladies in these purse groups being like "thank you everyone in this hobby for getting me through my chemotherapy" like ... sometimes we dismiss the middle aged purse lady demographic but you know what they have got is a functional community where they support each other that just happens to be centered around purses. having now read many posts from these groups for several weeks I can see that the object being collected IS important, and is certainly the superifival draw into the space as well as something that provides an immediate shared interest, the actual benefit of localish hobby/collecting spaces is largely community and social support.
those of us who are Very Online Only could stand to learn from this sort of thing I think. it doesn't have to be purses it could be anything. but like. (gestures at the purse ladies who are getting each other through chemotherapy) Shared Interest Facebook Group And/Or Subreddit has it for you. i think.
not to be a gatekeeper or anything but i wholeheartedly believe that if you cannot appreciate the constant planning, effort, and labor of ancient workers (slaves, farmers, weavers, potters, etc) - you genuinely cannot examine or appreciate antiquity in any meaningful way (besides becoming an example for what NOT to do).
This entire interaction is killing me
the number one lesson that toddler parenting is teaching me is the power of adjusting your attitude so you can get silly. if I am in a bad mood or at the end of my rope patience-wise my toddler senses this IMMEDIATELY and actively turns every single interaction into a protracted power struggle. but if i can take a second to gather myself and marshal juuust enough strength to do a goofy little bit or even just make a silly face he is sooo so delighted and can usually be easily persuaded to do whatever he was resisting two seconds earlier. tonight he was testing meeeeeeeeee oh my god WHY must everything be a battle and then I invented a game called BOOM where I swing him around and drop him on the nearest cushioned surface and this game was such a wild hit that we did our entire bedtime routine in five min just by trading bedtime tasks for one (1) boom. and then he was in such a silly happy mood it put me in a better mood and now I don’t feel as exhausted. idk it does take some effort to rally when you’re not feeling inclined to be silly but then it consistently saves soooo much time/energy in the rest of your interactions I think it’s worth it. plus it’s crazy how much goofing off with somebody for a few minutes resets your nervous system.
gentrification is when trash goes in trash cans
context: these are not trash cans for pedestrians to throw their food wrappers and whatnot in, nyc already has plenty of those. these are trash transfer bins for buildings. up till now, the official procedure for the enormous volume of trash generated inside all of nyc's tall buildings was to package it in big black plastic trash bags and pile it on the sidewalk for the trash collection trucks to collect. people have been talking about installing collection dumpsters for decades and i guess mamdani's finally getting it done.
in case you're wondering why the hell anyone would object to not having stinky plastic trash bags piled high on the street at least twice a week every week, or to making the trash collectors' work go faster and be less dangerous, it's because the plastic trash bags get piled on the sidewalk and the bins, as you can see from the picture, will permanently occupy spaces formerly used as street parking.
yes, even in the most pedestrian-friendly city in the USA, where a substantial minority of residents have never learned to drive, car brain is still a hell of a drug.
this is great. slowly we will build a house
Thats crazy dude mind if i join you
