Soo, welcome. Looks always good to say this, right? Let's see...I'm Portuguese, I'm a Psychologist , and I can now say I'm a published author!! The links for my book are in the Menu button, under "My Book!" I'm mainly a fandom blog. My (too) many fandoms show up in my posts pretty much all the time. I'm a hardcore bookworm and I'm also a Hobbit. No, seriously, I'm VERY short. Marvel is a way of living. And DC Comics has revealed to be a pleasant surprise. Feminism is a thing here. Also, I'm a Pisces. Apparently this bit of info. matters, for some reason... I sometimes review and recommend books, and post my art - I'm only an amateur with no training, but hey, I like to see my progress.
does jinx ever wonder if she's going to be a good mother?? and how she reacts when she discovers that she's having a girl??
oh yeah definitely
not a legitimate fear that she’d be a bad one because i don’t think she’d keep isha if she actually thought that, but she really really WANTS to be a good parent and i think she’d be worried she won’t live up to it
it doesn’t matter to her and she’d raise them the same either way but it’s probably weirdly poetic/bittersweet. because she was obviously a daughter that grew up without a mother and now her own child gets the relationship she didn’t have
Do you think Vi would be worried about Jinx developing PPD after the birth? Maybe due to their shared trauma & known mental issues (it’s also just common). I feel like Vi would have an inner conflict bc she’d be trying to watch Jinx carefully for any signs that something may be wrong, but she also wants to give her enough space to breathe and figure stuff out on her own.
yEP!!! this is a very reasonable fear for her to have!!!
she definitely went into it knowing there WAS a chance that jinx might spiral again and she and cait would have to look after this kid until she got better. but it was also one of those things you just can’t stress about until it happens or you’ll implode
i can see her keeping a REEAAALLLLYY close eye on her at first to make sure she’s coping. and every time jinx gets a bit emotional she’s like ‘are you alright. did you take your meds. do you need us to call someone.’
and jinx is like ‘actually i had a human baby 3 days ago and it’s kind of normal for me to cry a little bit’
Much like Springfield before it, Seattle is one of the few major cities in the world with a monorail. That, combined with a more conventional light rail system, makes Seattle the rare U.S. city with two different types of train for public transportation. On Tuesday night, the rail system briefly had a third: a Mazda CX-5.
This was a casual side conversation between Bashir and Sisko about a fellow crew member, completely unrelated to the episode’s plot, and its just so sweet.
It’s nice to know that if you’re a pregnant father-to-be on DS9, your buddies Julian and Miles will build you a hatchling pond, buy you baby clothes, and throw you a shower eagerly attended by the station’s commanding officer (who was practically beaming with joy when he found out that you were expecting).
This is so much more, though. This is such a massive subversion of 90s toxic masculinity.
A male character is producing offspring, and two male characters are giving him a baby shower, which at the time (and still is) the dominant joke for male characters is how to get out of attending a baby shower.
Add to that Sisko is a absolutely giddy at the thought of new babies, during a time when black men were portrayed at the peak of the toxic masculinity charts, and were usually stereotyped as absent fathers.
The MEN on DS9 were the broody baby-crazy ones. The women couldn’t care less. Kira never breathed a word about wanting a baby and when she had one imposed upon her it was kind of hilariously played up for her reluctance. Worf was all “let’s have a baby!” and Dax was like ehhhhhhhh. Even Odo got all parental with a lil bucket of goo he found.
And then Sisko, who had just about the best depiction of fatherhood (and he was a single father, if you’re not familiar) in a sci-fi show. Loving, supportive, not without conflict, but always devoted.
There’s a liquor store near my house that seems to be run exclusively by frat boys. They lovingly curate these bags, which I browsed today while “Oops I Did It Again” played through the store speakers. This is art to me, there is beauty everywhere for those with eyes to see it
