This quest definitely made me change the way I think about Caribert. I can't really figure out if his decision to help the abyss order retrieve the eye of the first field tiller was selfish or not. Because while his mind did mature over time, I don't know if he really had the skills to think about what the abyss could possibly be planning with the loom of fate, and that it may do more harm. I mean he knew inserting himself into the memories of the people of Vimara Village would possibly harm them, but I just can't believe that he had the maturity to understand how devastating the loom of fate could be. Especially since he was never really a part of society. I think his goal was so pure of heart that it did convey how innocent he is.
Also, I think his relationship with Atossa was pretty heartwarming. Though I was confused because early on, Atossa described Caribert as someone like family and a friend that I can say anything to. But then later comes to the conclusion that Caribert "dumped" her, which implies a different kind of relationship. Either way super cute, and it made me kinda sad that they could never actually be together no matter how you look at it.
Caribert was so innocent, and I feel he was exploited until the end. Unless I'm missing critical detail from another quest or am being too critical of what the abyss orders intentions are. Caribert's consciousness was brought back to him by his father-who, then had to soothe his mental anguish. Then, they used him to create what was basically the prototype for the loom of fate. Just made me kinda mad how he was treated and how tragic his life was.
I'm so far behind on my archon quests that it's embarrassing. As someone who's been playing since 2.5, I feel like I shouldn't just now be doing the interlude in between Fontaine and Natlan. The game will end, and I'll finish it a year later stg.
I know I'm a little behind in my quests and I've just done part two of Cyno's story quest, but I feel like there was a major part of Cyno's childhood that was revealed that was just glossed over.
SPOILERS FOR CYNO'S SECOND STORY QUEST
So you're telling me that Cyrus feels guilty for betraying the Temple of Silence by taking Cyno away. And Bamoun and the rest of the members feel that Cyrus is a traitor because he interrupted their attempt to create a vessel for the power of Hermanubis. To me, it seemed like everyone was disagreeing over the right way to handle the power of that degree. Cyrus even tells Cyno not to give up his power because it is no more his to give than it is Bamoun/Sethos(?) to take. It is also to my understanding that the reason why Cyrus took Cyno and left is because he didn't agree with the possibly harmful practice, but there's just one part I feel was glossed over too quickly.
THEY LITERALLY BOUGHT CYNO FROM HIS PARENTS.
Bamoun said that they had identified another child that could be a promising vessel and got his parents' permission for a small fortune. They bought a child to experiments on, and that's not where Cyrus or anyone involved drew the line?
I'm not saying I hate any of these characters or anything like that. I just think it's crazy that Cyrus felt guilty for taking Cyno out of that environment, and that everyone that was there didn't even seem a little shocked nor did anyone who was informed of what went down afterwards seemed shocked. When Bamoun said that my jaw was on the floor, I guess he was also really desperate to save the Temple of Silence considering the history of it.
