Since youtube has decided that privacy isn't real, I figure that it's about time to move off of there. Unfortunately, that's a difficult task, seeing as it is the central platform for video hosting, and it's very difficult to get a coordinated video file sharing platform running.
The solution? Archive.org. I'm going through every life series, downloading every POV, and uploading all of the files to archive.org. At the moment, I've got all of 3rd life up.
^ This is the link to my account, which has my current progress, and should be updated with everything as I upload.
A few technical issues have emerged, however--the file format that my yt downloader uses changes with availability and speed of download, so some files are webm and others are mkv. The archive doesn't support streaming mkv, though, so if your chosen pov doesn't have all the videos in the series, then they are only available through downloading and viewing on your own software.
I will be resolving this in the future, by turning all the files into webm, but until then, I'm just trying to jump ship before YT sinks fully.
At the moment, if you have any thumbnails that you would like on the re-uploaded videos, official or unofficial, please reach out! My asks and DMs are usually open, and I'll check the tags of this post semi-regularly.
Also, if you have any interest in learning how to download youtube videos (legally, of course...), I am more than happy to walk you through using macos software for that.
actually if I can complain for a minute I think it's so rancid when people are like "uuuh what did you expect from the rudeness website lmaooo" or "uwu it's the piss on the poor website you can't expect anyone to actually read what you said" or "this is literallyyy the autism website" like okay??? your personal perception of tumblr dot com doesn't actually mean people can just speak to each other any which way and expect to never receive any pushback for being a rude ass bitch. christ. get some house training.
i know i’m just in a bad mood but this push to re-categorize every kind or moral human action as inherently punk and cool is fucking cringe because you’re showing your ass about your priorities. as a visibly alt queer myself, who gives a FUCK if being nice is “punk”? just be nice because it’s nice. i’m not giving you special scene brownie points for it?? and you don’t even listen to punk music or care about the history? so why do you care about being “punk”?? IM GOING CRAZY
so, so many well-meaning people going “well, if feeling punk is what makes people be nice and do nice things, let them say they’re punk!” to which, yeah, i can’t stop them
my objection isn't "being nice isn't punk, therefore don't be nice”
my objection is that we've reached a point where every positive human behavior gets reframed as an aesthetic identity instead of just being a positive human behavior
if you think helping people is good, then help people because it's good!
if you think kindness is good, be kind because it's good!
i don't understand the need to run every moral action through a "but is it punk?" filter first, especially when a lot of the people doing this have no actual interest in punk as a culture, music scene, history, or political tradition (for better or for worse)
at a certain point "punk" just becomes shorthand for "thing i personally approve of," and then the word stops meaning anything at all
ANYWAY! here’s some punk bands you could check out if you’re interested in punk music that might reflect the values you hold dear but you’re not sure where to start: Against Me!, Crass, The Dicks, MDC, X-Ray Spex, The Muslims, G.L.O.S.S., Big Joanie, Los Crudos, Pansy Division! give them a try! happy thrashing!
i didn’t wanna add this to that post and muddy up my point even more but im also like. idk. if someone is only being nice because they think being nice is punk and if i tell them its not they’ll stop being nice… that’s not a nice person
okay, we managed to get through the “you can be gay and not have sex” part, and im feeling charitable and i wanna talk about the “do crime” part
so many responses of “its nice that you’re privileged enough to be able to steal from Target willy nilly!” and that’s not at all what this is about. like, yeah, shoplifting and loitering and graffiti and breaking the rules is, obviously, part of “do crime”. but they’re not parts you have to do.
would you help someone get an abortion where it was illegal?
would you help a trans friend get healthcare that had been criminalized?
would you shelter someone fleeing persecution, even if the law said not to?
would you help a gay couple stay together when the state decided their relationship was unlawful?
instead, would you report someone else for breaking the law? will you snitch on your hungry neighbors for stealing food? on your homeless neighbors for sleeping where they’re able?
would you break laws to protect someone you love? a community you love? yourself?
the 3 rules of enjoying Any fandom are 1. follow everyone who you find funny 2. block everyone who you find annoying 3. when you like someone's art tell them
The most basic, intractable fact about mental illnesses is that you simply cannot willpower your way out of them. The only exceptions to this rule are the ones I have, which continue to disable me due to lack of determination and other grave personal flaws
ik ppl say a lot about love yourself, and be fat positive, body positive, be kind to yourself, and like. that doesnt even begin to capture the amount of effort required to convince yourself you're worthy of love when society's expectations weigh on you in every aspect of life. which is why it's so revolutionary not only to love yourself without regard for your body and its relations to social value, but also to love others in the same way.
