recently joined my university’s orchestra and I love our conductor so much he does things like yell “THIS IS NOT FIGURE E” at us so you know exactly where in the music you aren’t

yesterday he turned around his laptop to show us something at which point we all saw that he was conducting off a score with “PREVIEW ONLY” in huge red letters on it. when someone asked “don’t you own the score?” he just went “this is all I have…”

“oh sorry, was I meant to be playing?”

“no”

the proudest moment of my school bassoon career was when the conductor of my wind band told me “I never thought I’d say this but, bassoon, can you be quieter?”

hello! just popping in to share some art pieces I made this year with various musical instruments. I know this isn’t my typical content but I think they’re cool so here you go:

P.S. no instruments that weren’t already broken were harmed in the creation of these pieces. I didn’t saw a perfectly functional guitar up, promise. (please don’t repost but reblogs are much appreciated!)

the head of the music department at our school is actually the best guy. he once stopped a rehearsal to give a speech on why we shouldn’t catch syphilis. he talked for like ten minutes in a lesson about a dog he saw in Birmingham once. he wrote the plot of a musical involving two people falling in love at a cheese club and called it Cheesy Love and tried to get us to write songs for it. when people don’t leave instruments in the lockers he prints out individual notes saying to put them away and sticks them on every single case. I love this man so much I cannot even explain.

I am alive! I have not posted on this blog in actual years BUT since I do still play the bassoon (also I picked up the organ recently isn’t that cool) I figured I might as well start posting again. Probably won’t be consistent or too often but I am bringing this blog back from the dead, baby! Thanks for sticking around, everyone <3

types of boys based off instruments

bass guitar

-tall!! kind of lanky, wears a lot of heavy clothes. likes to turn the volume on the television real high, sits by his window, collects wooden figurines and paints them all cool colors. deep

acoustic guitar

-soft. tiny. tiny man. listens to heavy metal with the volume on low. jumps on the bed and does that lil sigh after a long day, has a favorite stuffed animal, posters in his room with his favorite bands. flowers

viola

-beeg. BEEG!!! loves to make popcorn and get his hands all dirty, lots of curly brown hair. super elegant when he speaks but a total dumbass. drinks tea and complains when it’s too hot. thinks he knows everything.

-takes u out for big dinners when he has the rent due in two days. also a lil bit slow. wears glasses n thinks he’s smart. best friends with wood, watches hgtv in his free time. probably knows how to bake bread

french horn

-tries to look cool. fails. golden hair and sparkle in his eyes, probably burnt a hot dog while making it in a pot once. types fast. loves spaghetti, pronounces it pasghetti. lots of lil trinkets. total clutz

Loud. Technically pretty smart but acts really stupid. Makes bad decisions. Is super passionate about things they love. Very friendly and social. Super cheesy and tells you bad jokes just to hear you laugh.

Similar to trombone, but emphasis on the "loud". Also add a large ego.

Ukelele

also very small and soft. soft spoken and insecure, but when hes comfortable hes a lot of fun. he watches cartoons. cares a lot about people, and worries about them. loves all his stuffed animals equally. loves over sized shirts and/or sweaters. very lovey dovey and just wants cuddles and your attention. maybe a little clingy. he does this 👉👈 and sends the 🥺 emoji a lot. calls make him anxious.

Kazoo

will send you memes and shitposts at 3 am. he is very versed in shitpostery. can be loud and lacks a filter, he finds serious conversations difficult, and prefers to goof off. hes very funny, a class clown, and he'll hang out with anyone. he loves neon colors and vans. he might think of himself as annoying, but everyone loves to have him around. he makes any room he walks into a brighter place.

Drums

a punk. he gets very passionate about even small things. he loves rock, metal, and generally any music genre that you can headbang to. hes very loud when hes excited, and hes easily excitable. he loves heavy leather jackets and covers his in pins and patches. hes very loyal and loves his friends fiercely. hes probably a human rights activist, and he loves animals, but is probably a dog person. he also probably has several hobbies!

Keyboard

fun and extroverted. likes memes, but isnt up to speed with them. he'll probably show you a meme from a few weeks ago and think its the funniest thing. prefers facetime or skype to texting. excitable and honest. loves bright colors and is really chill. does 👉👈 "ironically". probably confused about new trends. very supportive, even if hes a bit slow. talks really fast, and keeps his shoes tied for long periods of time so he doesnt have to tie them again. that or gets slip-ons or velcro.

Otamatone

watches anime very frequently. reads manga and comic books, but has trouble focusing long enough to read novels. loves going to conventions and most likely has met many of his friends there or his schools anime club. enjoys vocaloid. deep into fandom culture. he appreciates fan artists and writers so much, and probably looks up to cosplayers. his favorite holiday is either halloween or his birthday.

Bassoon

he likes indie music and podcasts a lot. a bit of a picky eater. a big softie, hes probably either chubby and/or grew up the fat kid. really kind and understanding. a great listener. you feel safe and homey with him. will curl up and read a book to you. generally pretty quiet. very supportive and has a very cute smile. he worries that people dont like him sometimes, but he does his best to be optimistic. loves oversized t-shirts.
