I’m at a point in my Spanish understanding where I can watch native content with subtitles but the problem is that nobody on planet earth has any respect for the art of making good subtitles no matter what language it is

There’s this thing that subtitles do sometimes where they paraphrase or word things slightly differently for some reason.

Like

Real dialogue: (frustrated) No, I’m just going to the clock store to buy a fucking clock. What do you think I’m doing?

Subtitles: I am going to the clock store to buy a clock. What do you think is happening?

And it doesn’t just happen on dubs either. This nonsense happens on content made in the language you’re reading the subtitles for too.

also as you noticed, i kinda reworked my Wally's The Flash design a little bit :

initially the original design was to mix the modern one and my own take by giving him blue-tinted visor-eye sockets since Barry in this universe, according to issue #45, has the white eyes on his costume.

and so i gave Wally the eye windows thats commonly associated with Barry's Flash to differentiate both of them specifically for this universe. (and so is Barry's appearance in Batman 04, where i took inspo of older Barbara directly from)

HOWEVER, recently, i decided to keep it simple to fit the world slightly better (and push the message clearly).

keeping the hair window from the modern iterations but mixing it up with common Wally Flash's design around the show's airing : white eyes and retaining the yellow lightning but without the white circle (i swear i tried to give him the blues and whites but it made him look so... muted? monochrome? because his TT03 hair is a red wine, auburn, Mary Jane-esque color instead of the lighter, regular ginger. so all you're seeing is just a BIG red, dash of blue, and no other color variety LOL. i know blue means faster but yellow is visually much more vibrant to me.)

technicalities aside, i also intended to make it as if he visibly looked so similar to his uncle, as in, its as if he lived up to the mantle, after all. but the hair window in the design and, in an anime-glasses fashion, the white eye socket occasionally shows his blue eyes telling that its still the same Wally West/Kid Flash in there.

i feel like people aren't getting how dire ai is. we are running out of drinkable water. our brains aren't engaging as much with what we see and hear. people near data centers don't get clean water and experience electricity blackouts. it's being used to make pornography of underaged people and women. it often just lies. it affirms everything. it lies. it has made people kill themselves. it lies for gods sake. and people act as if im dramatic for being staunchly against it. 'now i KNOOW you hate ai and whatever, but look at this cute video' this isn't me being a new age puritan about internet videos, this is about the fucking earth and our future living on this planet. people are suffering now, people will suffer more, and my friends and parents will roll their eyes and think im annoying for despising ai so explicitly. we need to wake up because we cannot live like this

There is something sooo deeply American going on with Seattle Children’s Hospital that I think would brick the minds of everyone outside of the United States.

The CHILDRENS hospital has to restrict helipad landings because of noise complaints from the wealthy home owners living next to it. Only the most urgent patients can land directly at the hospital. While the other kids have to land a mile away and are taken to the hospital via ambulance. Which is an unnecessary risk to the child’s life and also makes the families pay for the helicopter AND ambulance.

The hospital says some limits on helipad access add pressure when children need lifesaving care.

Apparently this has been going on for decades and is only getting traction because a pilot complained on Twitter.
