You have an illegal superpower, allegedly. As far as you know, you are entirely powerless, but law enforcement and even the army wont leave you in peace until you are either dead or captured.
This is, perhaps, the 6th time now you've been brought in about some "illegal power" with some quite overwhelming show of force at that. At least, it sure seemed to be a bit much with the equipment the police had to detain you. You even swore you heard gunshots fired this time. Despite it shattering your window, you hope no one got hurt. You didn't really get injured though it was just one of those "glad worse things didn't happen" kind of days, at least, except maybe a bruise or two from their rough handling.
Months go by, you go through the same process as every prior attempt. Trial for entirely too long, acquittal, and then back on the streets again to your ordinary life. The Jury for the most part, confused (again) about what exactly you were being charged with or what was illegal, or even if you're a super at all. By all accounts you seem pretty normal. You have a pretty average life. Certainly not a terrible one, just sometimes this whole ordeal springs up again every few years. Whatever power they keep trying to pin you with... surely it isn't that dangerous if this is all that's happened is just. Repeatedly going getting detained with some drastic misunderstanding and a reiteration on "use of force" with the police being a problem. You don't exactly resist but at the same time they regularly show up with full riot and swat and various supers ready to deal with... whatever you are? They state their sensors claim you have an incredibly ILLEGAL power, but even they can't really pin it down or explain it. Your life just seems so... average. Not great or fantastic but also not terrible and full of suffering. Just with this repeated odd occurrence because of the technology or some detection from someone that whatever your power is, it breaks some fundamental law.
Years go by, the same thing repeats every so often each time you move to a new jurisdiction or some new guy thinks they're really gonna pin you for what you are, some hidden mastermind villain or something. Except every time things just kind of... go smoothly for you. Each and every Jury is either hung up or they acquit you on the basis of not understanding what it is you're capable of. It's just "very illegal" and "very powerful." And, because powers still aren't required to be revealed during this process for fear of unmasking heroes from their secret identities, you're never told or revealed it either. You're very good at going over the details of your life, they aren't exactly extraordinary just... Average. You've always been incredibly meticulous, trying to account for things that could go wrong in your projects and life... It's not your fault you manage to circumvent Murphy's Law somehow. Oh. That's why it's illegal... and you keep breaking it somehow.
Damn it Milo!
