ooc; i think shepard blogs really do themselves a disservice if they think that their shepard is a better engineer than tali. like, her whole basis as a character is that she is brilliant like prodigy level. shepard is an excellent SOLDIER and destined for greatness - but they are not the best at EVERYTHING.

        The notion of family to a quarian is vast and varies, depending on who you ask. As a communal species, values and care span further than blood relations. That is simply the nature of her people. It is an admirable principle... one that surely saves countless lives from loneliness and demise. She decides not to push the matter or question whom he is speaking of when he mentions family. It is not her place, but the curiosity lingers. 

        “Right,” she exhales sharply. Tali is young; and while this doesn’t disqualify her from leadership, it makes it a daunting task. “I hope to do right by them. By all of us,” her voice is firm, but carries the idea that she is trying to convince HERSELF.
